If I'm going just for dessert (to CRT) should I tip above the 20%? There will be 5 of us for dessert. Also has anyone ever just done desserts there?
Thanks,
Kimba :paw:

We've done just desserts, but not in WDW. We went to an upscale place and ordered desserts. I just tipped the 20% because we did not occupy the table for long and the waitress did not have to visit us more than twice. At this particular restaurant a meal should be almost 2 hours for most people. We were there about 35 minutes.

I'm sure many will disagree.

Oh, but if the desserts are very cheap (or whatever we order for that matter) I always tip a bit more. I hate to go out to breakfast and only leave $2 so I'll usually go up to $4.

Hope this makes sense.

I think 20% is a great tip for a just-dessert meal. Going up to 20% does make up for what is generally a smaller total bill-per-minute you're occupying the table.

I'd go above 20% if the 5 of you are splitting 2 or 3 desserts. I'd also go over 20% if you're relaxing for 30-60 minutes while your server continues to top off your coffee.

I agree with the previous posters, if you're ordering 5 desserts and are only there for 20-30 minutes 20% is probably fine. I'd probably at least round the 20% up to the next dollar.

All five of us would get our own dessert and we won't be there long..we want to be outside of the castle for Wishes. Actually if the server was decent to us I was planning to go above the 20%.... At least now I know that 20% would be ok and above that would be really ok!
Thanks again! This is a surprise for my kids..the have no clue!!!

According to a poster CRT is going to a fixed price menu for all meals.

Generally restaurants with a fixed price menu won't allow guests to just order dessert and coffee. There may not even be a price listed for dessert. I'd be careful about promising kids dessert at the castle.

According to that thread the changes don't go in to effect until Feb !st. We are going Dec 3rd. So hopefully that won't be a problem..I think I'll call to be sure. And the kids don't know about it so that's also not a problem!

You're probably OK but I posted for the benefit of others who might be considering a dessert only CRT experience.

I just called Disney dining and I'm good to go for December!!! I was a bit concerned but she confirmed that the change won't happen until Feb 1st 2006.
