I just read a thread over on the "Resorts" forum about someone who made a room-only resv. and was only allowed to pay the one night's deposit prior to check-in. I read all the replies but I'm just as confused :confused3 ....

Anyone here have any experience with that?? Does that mean that when I make a new tent-site resv. after the first of the year for our trip next fall, that I won't be able to pay it off over those 10 months? Does this apply to the sites at FW??!!

Help! :earseek:

One nights deposit is standard for any reservation that's made. I think if you make it more than 90 days in advance you have the opprotunity to send a payment later, but still make the reservation.
So pretty much,
more than 90 days away - make reservation, no deposit required
90 days or less - one nights deposit is required for the reservation

You can pay the balance off any where between the day you make it, and the day you check in. You can even pay off the remaining balance when you check in so you can express check out, which means you just pack up and leave without even going to the outpost.

... I think I made that kind of clear...

That's strange. I've never heard that you CAN'T pay off the balance before check in.

I'd say either the poster misunderstood or the CM making the reservation misunderstood.

I'm sure if you call and ask they will tell you that you canmake a payment at any time.

Ok, I read the thread and this is what i got out of it:

If you are an annual passholder (AP) and book through the "Best Rate" (BR) plan, you can only leave a 1 night deposit. The balance can only be paid at the resort, not in advance.

Someone else said that if you book a regular room only online you also are not allowed to pay more than your deposit.

AAA reservations (and phoned in room only reservations) do allow you to make payments.

The person getting all those disney dollars is a little bit crazy. Probably something safer would be to use the credit card to buy travellers checks, but I'm not sure if you can do that. Others suggested simply sending extra money to their credit card company so that they have a credit on there when it is time for the trip.

Well, I've done this a couple ways. In 2000, I paid the one night's deposit and when we checked in, I handed the CM a STACK of Disney $$ to pay the reservation. The look on the CMs face was priceless. I was the first person to do that to him. ;)

This year, I have paid the reservations off already, a bit at a time, over the last 10 months. No balance due!!

When you make a room-only (or site-only) reservation, they require at least a one night's deposit. You don't have to pay the balance until you check in, but you are allowed to call anytime and make additional payments, and even pay it off early, if you wish.

The only exception is if you use the AP Best Rate program, where you must make a non-refundable one-night's deposit, and cannot pay it off until you check in.

Hope this helps! :)
