DH has to give a law seminar in downtown Atlanta at the Four Seasons. He asked me if I wanted to tag along. It will be Sept. 21st & 22nd. I'm trying to decide if I should go or not. I looked up the Four Seasons on the internet and it looks gorgeous (what Four Seasons isn't ;))?

Can someone who is familiar with the area or who has stayed here before tell me if there is good shopping w/i walking distance or other things nearby to do or see? Also, they have what looks to be a beautiful pool w/outdoor sundeck. I do love my sun :sunny: . So will I be able to hang out on the sundeck w/a good book and have a nice cocktail or will it be warm enough?

Thanks anyone who can help me with this decision. He has to know by tomorrow if I want to go or not.

I haven't stayed there, but I love luxurious hotels so I'd never pass up a chance to try a new one. ;)

There's probably not going to be much within walking distance of this hotel (nothing you'd want to walk to by yourself, anyway). But... in September it's still going to be pretty warm, so you'll be able to enjoy the deck!

DH and I stayed there 2 years ago for our anniversary and it was wonderful. I remember we said that next time, we'd book 2 nights instead of 1! It was raining at dinner time, so I remember we took a taxi to the restaurant ( I'll ask him the name...) and then had a very romantic walk home. I also remember that back at the hotel they had a large crowd gathered for the "chocolate buffet" which looked very yummy.....

I don't think there is much shopping in that area. But we did enjoy our stay there.

I used to live right by that hotel, you will be close to the art museum. The hotel is GORGEOUS!

Thanks everyone! I think you've convinced me to go! :thumbsup2

Oh and AtlantaSue, could you let me know the name of the restaurant you and your husband liked? Thanks!

That's about 2 miles from my job! It's a beautiful hotel, I'd go just to experience it!

There is a Ruth's Chris downtown that is nice (pricey)
Downtown Atlanta is a bit seedy (in case you didn't know)
I just didn't want you to be suprised

The restaurant/wine bar was called "Eno," and you can read about it at www.enorestaurant.com.

The Hotel and restaurant are both in "midtown" - which is a bit seedy, but it's getting better. DH (a developer) owns a unit in one of the new high rise condos in that area.

Have a great trip!

Oh - and it will definitely be VERY warm in Sept.!!

Atlanta is supposed to have new downtown shuttles for tourists - ask at your hotel. You might be able to take the shuttle to the aquarium, CNN and other attractions.
