Question for WLV Owners

How wonderful it is to hear such nice experiences from VWL!!!

We've been three times now and it really brings true meaning to "welcome home". The second we pull on to the grounds I feel like I'm where I'm supposed to be!

I love the easy (and short covered walk) to the lodge when I need something there. I love the scenic walk option back to the villas that takes me past the lake and the trees. I feel like I've got the best of both worlds there--the magic and happiness of Disney World, and the peace and quiet of a "remote" setting to help you unwind and recharge for the next day of magic.

Each time we have gone we discover something new! The kids love it, we love it !

And so many of our friends talk about how they need a "vacation" after coming to Disney. We've NEVER felt like that and I think that is because of the relaxation and quiet that VWL provides at the end of the day.

Two thumbs up for the EWP (but pop some popcorn in your microwave and bring it down for the show), the watermice, the restaurants, the quiet pool, the scenery, the wildlife, the "cricket" noises when you are walking around the grounds at night, the bike trail to the campground, ALL OF IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a great time in March. Wish I could come along!

For literally years, DH and I would say, "we really should buy into that Disney thing....". We'd look into it on our Disney vacations, and always decide the time wasn't right. And the price kept going up.... During our last trip to WDW (and DD's first!) at the last minute we decided to change our reservations from the Carribean Beach to the WL, figuring that with a 20 mo. old we certainly would spending a lot of time in the room and therefore it should be a "deluxe." From the second we walked into that lobby I knew it would be tough to get DH to ever want to stay anywhere else again. We had a magical week at WL, toured the villas, and met for quite awhile with our guide. It was a no brainer - pay how much for a pb&j sandwich everyday that DD took one bite out of or have a full kitchen???? Location was one of the keys for us - with young kids, MK is just a boat ride away. We haven't been "home" yet but did go to HHI on points and I can't imagine staying in anything but a villa for years to come. Formula, cereal, baby laundry, etc. - you get the picture!

I think we still would have eventually bought in if VWL wasn't available, but we loved the resort's atmosphere so much, we knew it was the one for us!

I so agree with all of my fellow VWL lovers, but there is one more thing that I really love about that place.

When you exit off the highway you take the

MAGIC KINGDOM RESORTS exit.

I don't know why I get such a kick out of that.

I guess it makes me feel like I live in the Magic Kingdom!

All our stays at WDW were at the Polynesian Resort because of the heavy theme that surrounded you everywhere within the resort. We first looked into DVC when only OKW and BWV's were avaliable and VWL were about to start selling. We dropped thoughts of DVC until we heard that VWL was about to stop selling to new buyers. We had never been to the Wilderness Lodge but "knew" it had to be as decorated as the Polynesian. We decided that since we already had a yearly vacation pattern set going to WDW, we couldnt go wrong investing the money now (we paid $65 a point ) instead of watching more future cash resservations that grow every year. Our first stay at VWL was enough to quell any fears about spending the money we did - It met and surpassed our imaginations! Are the other DVC resorts no good? Not by any means, we have visited the WDW DVC Resorts and they all have thier +'s for just about any vacation needs you could imagine. My list of likes for VWL's would go on for pages and I think a good handful have already been said, I'm just glad I have all my points for the 11 month window at our favorite resort!

Hmmm, was this a resale? Please say yes! We waited over a year for them (VWL) to be built and paid $72!

Im hoping to hear this was a mistake on price or it was a resale. We paid $75 per pt. direct from DVC. It was very near the sellout point at that time, actually purchased Jan. 02.

Dont get me wrong though, very happy with VWL!! Cant wait to get back HOME!!

Or was it $75 a point less the $10 Magical Beginnings? That is my guess.

We did buy a VWL resale that we closed on in Jan 02. We paid $70 per point, the deal being sweetened by the fact that it had all the previous years points banked and all the current years points available. At the time VWL resales were very scarce.

We never considered a resale. We knew we wanted to join DVC for many years before we did it. When VWL opened we knew we wanted to be a part of it. Ditto what everyone else is saying. Also, when we first walked in Copeland's "Billy the Kid" was playing over the PA. Copeland is among my favorite composers for his ability to transport the listener to another time and place. The music, plus everything else said here just make the VWL more magical.

Like others posted, we also bought first and visited the resort later. I really wanted into DVC and I knew that my DH might change his mind if I just kept waiting (at that time, for BCV) which was over 1.5 years away. We love our home resort and I'm very happy we bought there. I've tried all the other resorts on Disney property plus HH and my favs are still VWL and HH. I guess I'm partial to that outdoors theme!

Sorry for slow follow up....................

1 - Our first 300 points was the last day of new sales (Yes January 2nd was the last day) for VWL and we did take the $10 MB offer since we had already had prior vacation plans before buying.

2 - 1 month after our initial purchase, we felt we would need more points and after finding out that DVC had no "add-on's" for our Use Year ( And they wanted $75 a point ) we found a resale for 180 points VWL for $65 a point same use year. It had all points avaliable.

Hope that helps !

thanks Gigashadow! ;) I feel MUCH better now :D

Just wondering if there is some strange connection here!

resort available from Disney at the time we wanted to purchase. We had never stayed there before we purchased. This December we had our first stay at VWL and loved it. During that stay we visited BWV and BCV. Both were awesome with great locations. Still, somehow I think it is going to be very difficult to "take a chance" and stay anywhere other that VWL, we loved it that much! We have also stayed at Vero which was very beautiful as well. I just hope the 7 month window will continue to provide an opportunity for all DVC owners to get a chance to experience all of the resorts at one time or another.

pharmlivin...we used to think that as well. Be very careful if you stray away from your "home" resort.

We decided to "sample" the BWV last summer. And we really enjoyed it as well. And bought a BWV resale contract!! So be very careful if you decide to "sample" the other DVC resorts! :p

We bought into the VWL because it was closer to the Magic Kingdom. If my DH had it his way we would have bought at the Contemporary Tower and he wouldn't have even hesitated on price.

This is the only way to reach the Stars. What a beautiful, quiet, serene atmosphere that the Lodge has. You are able to relax once you pass the entrance gates.

We would not have bought into anything else!

All the above and the best food court, esp later at night.
