Question For Travellers Who Have Experienced 1 Stop Flights

I have flown many times but have only once experienced a 1 stop flight.
On that occasion I only had Carry On baggage,so I had no problems.
My question is, when I land at Phoenix Airport I have to transfer to another US Airways flight in the same terminal (about 1 hour layover).
Would the checked baggage be transferred by the US Airways baggage handlers from one flight to the other or is this something I would have to do myself?

You are actually on a "connecting" flight. A "1 stop" flight generally means no change of planes.

In either case, you luggage will be checked to your final destination.

Although you don't say where you are flying from, I'm guessing you are flying from Canada. If that is the case, if you clear customs at your home airport in Canada, then no, you won't need to collect your luggage - it will be ticketed all the way to your destination ... all you do is get off the plane in Phoenix and get on the connecting flight to Orlando.

If you don't clear customs at your home airport, then yes, you will need to collect luggage, clear customs and recheck your luggage.

Since you are flying US Airways, your baggage will be checked through US Airways doesn't fly from any of the few Canadian airports that don't have pre-clearance facilities nor is it one of the few (all charter) airlines that don't use the pre-clearance facility that exist in the airports that they fly from.

It is one of the benefits of connecting in the US, rather than in Canada (though, that is changing for some airports).
