Question for those that bought Crocs

Hi,
I'm new to this board but have gotten so many great tips from everyone here in preparing for our Disney trip later this month. One of those tips was to buy the Crocs shoes. Mine just arrived in the mail and I have a question for those that currently wear them. I bought the Cayman model and they seem to fit lengthwise (I bought a woman's 8) but they seem VERY wide. I do have thin/flat feet and there is a good inch between the top of my foot and the inner top of the shoe - where the holes are. Is this the way they are supposed to fit? Should the back strap be snug to your ankle or loose? Mine doesn't really touch my ankle when I walk.

I bought these shoes also. The strap is pretty loose in the back for me, too.

The Crocs do not a fit like a Sport sandal or tennis shoe. They're a bit widder and you don't want the strap to fit snuggly. So it sounds like yours are fitting like they are suppose to. They do soften up the more you wear them - and if you don't like the strap, you can remove it or flip it over the top of your crocs. They fit me like a clog shoe ( I have really narrow fit) and I have gotten used to the space around my foot - I have the Beach model, so the airholes make the shoe really comfortable when it's hot out.
