question for those "in the know" about castle redo for May celebration

I have seen the pics of barriers in front of the castle for preperations for the celebration that begins in May but just saw artist rendering of changes to the castle...gold leaf and Peter Pan and Wendy flying around the top...any word about when that is going to go up or how that will effect the view of the castle while they do it....will it be scafolded or draped or will it be put up quietly in pcs or overnight like the Christmas decorations anyone know?

I don't know how they are doing it but I would think it would be done by your trip- especially since the started it already. -Steph

The hub will be done by the end of March.

The hub is being worked on until the end of March. The sidewalks are being started at the end of Jan. I haven't seen any timetable for when the Castle is to be worked on.

I was just about to post that as well. I have seen the pictures of the castle for the May 50th celebrations. But what are they doing to the hub and the sidewalks?

They are repairing the sidewalks on Main St. at MK at the end of Jan. Not sure how they plan to block off the sidewalks. I would imagine they would do one side then the other.

What exactly are they doing to the castle/castle area, and the sidewalks?? I didn't realize they'd be defacing WDW because of DisneyLAND's 50th anniversary. I thought the stupid birthdaycake thing that they did to the castle was a travesty! LOL I hope they're not planning anything as obnoxious as that. We'll be there in July. Any info? Pics? Thanks

I highly doubt you will see the construction on the side walk. We where there last year and sitting for the parade and for some dumb reason I happen to notice the pavement was cracked. And I swear to you we went the next morning and the entire pavement in that area had been replaced and they had a sign of wet paint. So they had tore up and laid and repainted the entire piece over night.

No I think they are removing planters and making more room for crowds for the new castle show coming this summer.
