Question for the moms

I'm going to DL in June (wow! That's next month now!!) I am BFing DS and he nurses 6 times a day...I'm thinking 3 of those will be when we're in the park. If you went to DL when DC was an infant do you have any suggestions/favorite quiet spots to feed them? I have a nursing cover and would be fine at any tucked away bench or chair but if there are favorite secret spots that'd be great!! Thank you!

The Baby Center is air conditioned and quiet, but here are some other places:

PoTC (yep, really easy once you're down in the ride)
Hungry Bear Restaurant lower level
Area across from IASW is desserted since it's closed and there is a shaded ramada right across from it.
Bug's Land in DCA has some quiet benches in tucked away spots
On the DLRR although the rocking motion might put you both to sleep.

there are some lovely quiet benches along the back trail from frontierland to FL. I also like the little cafe tables along the rivers of America.

We were done nursing by the time we went, but the Baby Care Center on Main Street is absolutely wonderful!!! That's a great place for nursing, or just a quiet place for a little snuggle time, if your little one is overstimulated.

There are quite a few rides, too, including POTC. I'm sure others will chime in their favorite places.

If it's hot- either in the Baby Center (A/C!) or in Tiki Tiki room! Although if you have an easily distracted nurser, the Tiki Room may disctract too much!

I've nursed both my girls all over both parks- usually I found a bench in the shade and just sit and nurse and people watch. I was the mom who would nurse anywhere (though discreetly I might add- it helped I didn't have FFF just C cups LOL) When it was hot or very cold, though, I utilized the Baby Centers.

My son was a very bad public nurser (lots of pulling away and playing with my shirt) so I really made good use of the Baby Care Center. Since it's centrally located, it was very convenient for me to explore a land, then come back to the hub when it was time for him to eat.

I saw a mom very discreetly nursing her baby in line for Peter Pan a couple of weeks ago. It really made me smile!

One of the times I nursed my daughter today was on the haunted mansion ride. It was dark, the music was steady so it seemed to relax her. The ride was just long enough to get a good nursing in.

I also liked the area behind the dumbo ride. There were very few people there at that time, and some shady spots.

I second this one...we have been down there and been the only ones, it's cool and shady and right by the water.

Hi, there! I'm a WDW veteran just lurking on the Disneyland sites, looking for new ideas and help for our upcoming trip. I came across your post and had to offer my $0.02 worth.

The very best I ever found to nurse my daughters was a dressing room in one of the stores. They are private, clean, roomy, quiet, and have seating. I would just tell a CM that I was going in to nurse the baby, and I never had a problem. One girl even checked on me after a few minutes and brought me a bottle water.

It's also a great place to get a quick diaper change done.

I did this everywhere, not just WDW, and my friends are crazy about it, too!

I was hoping that the baby care center had a room that our family of four could sit and relax while I nursed. I tended to get bored nursing and wanted some company and they do not allow that. So, the bench outside of the baby care center was a nice spot. =)

I also liked the lower level of Hungry Bear like many others have said. Also, the benches by Big Thunder were nice and shady, too.

Just not the benches *behind* Big Thunder unless you don't mind smoke, as it's the smoking section.

I could be completely wrong here but I don't think there are any dressing rooms At least I've never seen one at any of the DL clothing stores.

Last year when we went we had just stopped nursing but my little dd did take around a 2 hour nap everyday in the stroller. We needed as quiet a place as we could find. The best one for us was along the path behind BTMRR between frontier land and fantasy land, away from the smoking area.

I used the Baby Center to change his diaper, but I don't really like it. I'd rather be out in the parks people watching. My son would nurse anywhere, so there was no problem with distractions. My SIL nursed her son on Pirates when we were there. That IS the perfect ride to do that on!

I feel the same way as you do. I enjoyed the baby center once when we were in that very area, but I didn't want to walk across the park to nurse for 20 min then find my family...other than that once, I would nurse discreetly anywhere. I nursed on POTC, IASW (tho it is closed right now) and sitting on benches. I have a baby sling thingie that the baby would lay in and just pull the top over my shoulder and lift my shirt...most people proabably didn't even notice as it looks like you are just carrying a baby in a sling. I used to be able to walk around stores shopping and nursing and no one could tell...
BUT this was DD4 she didn't mind things over her head....my DD1 will pull my shirt, throw blankets off and HATES anything covering her head so i have to nurse in private places with her or everyone will see all i got...
Isn't there some of those picture booths by autotopia that you can go into and pull the curtian (like you are about to take some pics)??????

Though I would like to know, I've always wanted to know others opinions on public breastfeeding...I am very discrete, but in front of family I don't worry about it? anyone have any stories of reactions they got from BF in public? Do you think people mind...even if you are covered?

I haven't nursed at DL yet, but I will have to on my trip in July. I will just bring my nursing cover and nurse where ever. I'm sure the baby center is nice, but as long as I'm covered I don't mind sitting out in the open. Then I don't have to worry about wasting time finding my family again. The dressing room idea is a good one also, I do that all the time when I am out at the malls, I would have never thought to do that in DL!

Why would anyone mind? Personally I think it is a very calming, natural thing. I have never ever heard anyone say anything negative about breast feeding in public, as long as it is done discreetly (any vital parts covered). I found the best place was at the Baby Center as others have mentioned.

I nursed all over DL. POTC was my favorite! But I also nursed on IASW, and the train was great. We'd take up residence on one of the back rows. I had a nursing cover as well, but when DS was a little older, I didn't use it anymore. He wasn't an easily distracted nurser by then. I never had any qualms about breastfeeding in public. I usually used a cover, or wore a nursing shirt if I was going to be having more than one feeding out and about. I was discreet, and never had a problem. I always try to make eye contact and smile at other moms I see nursing in public, especially if I see one nursing an older baby. Sometimes people are tolerant of nursing newborns, but not older babies or toddlers.

Legoland has a great Baby Care Center (although it's been a few years now!). Rockers with a curtain that pulls around, and a little rocker for your toddler. They had a big bathroom that even easily fit my double stroller! They even had an attendant who did coloring activities with your older children! When I talked to their attendant about how great their center was, they said since Lego is a European company, these are the kind of mother's centers there. At least at the time, their center was far superior to the DL one.

The Baby Centers are wonderful. At DCA, they let my DH and oldest when I'd nurse my middle son when he was a newborn. The nurses let them stay just as long as there wasn't any other mother who wanted to nurse. The one at DL was very dim and relaxing but I'd always fall asleep there because of that.

There are dressing rooms at some of the shops on Main Street and at World of Disney but I think that the CMs would probably just send you over to the Baby Center. I can't think of any other location that hasn't been listed except Small World. I used to see moms break their shirt open and start nursing. Unfortunately it won't be open until November.

A friend of mine was criticized by an older man for nursing her 2yo discreetly at DL. He apparently thought it was "disgusting" that a toddler was still breastfeeding.

Her husband, a normally very reserved and quiet man, gave that guy a piece of his mind!

I'd much rather see a mother nourishing her child than the hundreds of exposed g-strings, muffin tops, and other inappropriate clothing all over DL and everywhere else!
