It's always nice to get a different perspective on DVC resorts.

I'd like to know from those of you who are 55 and older, which DVC resort is YOUR favorite and why?

(This will help me to decide which DVC resort I think my parents will enjoy the most when we drag them with us to WDW in the fall. ;) )

Thank you! :wave2:

The only DVC resort that I hesitate to book is OKW because it only has a handful of buildings with elevators, I think there are 3 or 4. We have stayed there once and were fortunate to get a building with an elevator, and it was great! I have another OKW stay booked (I am waitlisted for BWV) and as we get closer to June, if the waitlist doesn't come through, I will request the first floor.

DH and I are around 60, mom is 86 and she and we have had great times at SSR, VWL and BWV. We are taking her to BCV for the first time this May, and I can't think of any reason why she wouldn't like that as much as we do. She and we have the idea that the DVC resort we are staying at is the BEST!

We are between 50-55. Depends on the trip. If we're not going to go to the parks (or not go to the parks everyday, we like SSR or VWL. The nice thing about SSR if you come and go alot is that you can park in front of your building which saves alot of walking. But if we are planning on going to the parks alot we prefer BWV or BCV. Or if we're taking kids/grandkids who will be going to the parks alot.

Well, I hate to admit this but we are 59 and 60!!!!!!!!!! We used to bring our Aunt to WDW when she was 88,90 and 91 (we lost her this past February). The first time she went, she was like soooo what am I gonna do there....well we stayed at OKW, which she loved and then after she got a taste of ALL the parks she also became a WDW NUT. We had a family reunion there one of those years and what a wonderful time all of us had. She was celebrating her 90th birthday on one of the trips, and she just glowed with all the attention from the family and CM's...Like another post, elevators are limited. We always requested either 1st floor or an elevator building. We always confirmed that and also had our guide confirm with MS. You know, they always say not guaranteed. Well with someone that age, they better guarantee, but they won't tell you that. We always got our request!!! 2 times on the first floor and once in the elevator building.

Good luck with your planning!!!

DH is only a few months from 55, and OKW is his favorite, by far. He even asks for the upper floor, he thinks he gets better views of the golfers that way! We took his Mom to WDW, OKW, and she loved it (of course, she'd never stayed anywhere else). I'm a year younger than DH, and my fave is BCV. I love to people watch, so I always ask for a courtyard view. BWV BW view is usually good, but last time it was pretty loud until after my bedtime. I took my Mom to BCV and she really loved it too (but she also had nothing to compare it to).

I am 58 and DH is 72. If we are going for a relaxed visit, with parks a low priority, we love OKW for the size of the rooms, the low-key atmosphere and the ability to park outside the door (we would not do OKW without a car). If we want activity or our guests are not WDW regulars, we do a BW view at BWV because of the access to all of the activity and the fun of watching from the balcony. Guests always seem to love the BW view rooms and it is so handy to Epcot and MGM.

I'm only 53, so I can't answer this, right? :tilt:

Well, my mom is 68 and my dad is 78, but......

....I say go for it! I'll take any words of wisdom I can get when it comes to making a couple of old grumps (my parents) happy. :rotfl:

DH's parents are in their 70's and when they come with us, they love BWV. Mainly for the location. They don't rent a car (we do). They like all the dining options available (BW, BC, YC, Epcot) that way if they want to dine somewhere other than where we are going, they don't feel limited to just one restaurant at the resort.

I'm 56 BWV is the one for me. I'm also from NJ. :Pinkbounc

I had to laugh when I read your question. Really we're just regular people. :rotfl: Except for the elevator question, which may be a concern for some, we have our likes and dislikes just like you.

I'm 54 (for a few more days), and truthfully, I'm more active than my kids. I work out every day and walk when I can, instead of ride. My kids? They're watching TV or playing video games!

Oh, yea . . . I love the BCV, BWV, and OKW. I haven't stayed at WLV and SSR, yet.

Edited to add: I should have said I'm at least as active as my kids, if not more active. They don't work out or walk, but I didn't mean to make it sound like they're couch potatoes, either. And, no, they're not reading over my shoulder nor did they pay me to make this edit. ;)

Pat

339 days and counting . . . again!

Whenever my mil came along with us, we requested either "elevator or ground floor for medical reasons" and always got it. We only really needed it when my mil was undergoing chemo treatments. Before that, she had more energy at 60 than I did at 30 ! The stairs never bothered her before being diagnosed with cancer.

BWV/BCV may be nice for them if you plan on going during F&W---you mentioned visiting in the Fall.

Pat's right. My husband and I (both in our 50s) have Disney vacationed several times with friends in their 30s (we just got back from Disneyland), and they can't keep up with us.

If there are no health issues, it's better to base your resort choice on your parents' interests. If they like to be in the center of activity, they may like BWV. If they like to get away from it all, OKW or SSR might be a better choice. If they're really into pools and swimming, then go with BCV. If they want to be close to the Magic Kingdom, choose VWL (also convenient for viewing the Electrical Water Pagent). If they prefer Epcot, then pick BCV or BWV (especially if you're going during the Food and Wine Festival).

DH and I are both 57. We love both the BCV and the BWV. The ease of getting to both Epcot and MGM is a real plus for us. We enjoy the dining this area has to offer, so many great restaurants, just too little time to sample them all.
