Question for Rock n Rollercoaster fanatics, and the not so fanatics

Every time we go I want to ride RnR soooooo bad, but I have a couple of bulging disks in my neck, and don't want to flair up a nasty headache. I do ride Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, and Test Track, so my question is; should I give Rock n Roller Coaster a try? :confused3 I love speed, although I'd prefer to be in control of that speed.

I hadn't been on a coaster since I WAS 11 years old (now 40), let alone a loop coaster. I was extremely nervous but the ride on RnR is so smooth, I loved it. It is a great ride. If you can do SM, you can do this ride.

If you can ride BTMRR, and Space Mt, I think you would be fine on RnR. It's much smoother than either of those. The take-off is very intense, and I'd guess that you would want to keep your head back on the headrest. It's a lot of fun! :)

Since I've never had bulging disks, I'd say...if you feel OK enough to do RnRC, then by all means! (But, then of course, I'd be Advil-ed and Motrin-ed up enough so it wouldn't hurt...beforehand!)

Have fun!

Since the only thing that RnR does that the others do not is go upside down, do you think that would aggrevate your back? Like others said, it is much smoother than most of the ones you do go on. And there is no jerking like on Test Track. The take off is unbelievably fast but if you are prepared and have have your head back on the headrest, you won't get jerked back.

Only you know for sure, but I'd say if you do the others, RnR would be fine for you - have fun!

I think space mountain is the roughest ride in the park so if you can do that you should have no problem with R&R coaster. Get a seat in or near the front cause the ride is smoother.

I have to agree with everyone else. If you can handle SS, the R&RC should be a breeze. Just remember to keep you head back in the headrest at take off, it flys :cool1: but it is a very smooth ride. On my last trip, I had a neck ache the next AM after riding SS - I felt as though I had been whiplashed (but I still love the ride) my Dh won't ride SM just because of that, he thinks the ride is too jerky - but he absolutely loves the R&RC

If you try it, then make sure you get a seat up front. Our last trip we sat in the last seat and I couldn't believe how bumby it was! I couldn't even enjoy the ride because I was trying so hard to keep my head from banging around. Afterward, dh wanted to ride again but I wouldn't go back on. I may try it again but only if I get a seat in the front.

I agree with everyone else. I LOVE RnR but hesitate to go on SM for the fact that it is so jery and rough. When my DS first went on this ride I thought it was going to jerk him right out.

My husband has ridden all those rides, but when he rode RnRc he felt like he pulled his back. It wasn't a big deal, but he said he felt it thro' the next day. (Maybe he was in a back car?) I'd just be ready with the Advil.

I guess check with your doctor. But if you've been on the other ride you mentioned, I don't think you would have a problem. Many of the other rides are not as thrilling but harder on your back.

My dh loves RNRC but I find it a little intense. I went to WDW with whiplash a couple of years ago and avoided SM, BTMRR and RNRC like the plague. But like others have said, if you're comfortable on the other "coasters", you'll probably be OK on RNRC. I myself would skip it (and usually do, LOL!).

R&RC is a very smooth ride. A couple of tips. Ride in the middle of the train, it is a smoother ride. Keep your head straight and back against the headrest, and I would ride toward the end of the day , that way if it does bother you, at least it won't ruin your whole day. It is a great ride! I hope this helps.

I tend to have neck and shoulder problems from time to time, and the RnR did not aggrevate them. I agree with everyone who said it is a smooth ride. The take off is very fast.

My DH said this ride is smooth and it does not jerk your head around. He said he keeps his head back in the headrest though so he can hear the music. So that might make a difference. He said it is much more smooth than test track or space mountain. hope it helps.

I love RnR, however, the very 1st time I rode it, it triggered a migraine (very miserable at WDW). I was determined to slay this dragon, so the next trip I kept my head very sturdy & rigid against the back of the seat and that helped a lot. I do agree with other poster you do get a whiplash feeling.

Coach Rick and ilovemcbride --

i too suffer from bulging discs and shoulder probs (having an epidural tues, keep your fingers crossed!) -- i was reading with interest and wondered if either of you have gone on mission space??? if so, did it aggravate your problems? or is it OK?

appreciate your input!

thanks!

RnR is one of the smoothest coasters I've ever been on. I think that you will be good to go. Have Fun!!!

Eddieras,
My MIL has suffered years with all sorts of back problems (sorry, I don't know specifics) but loves Mission Space. She had to quit Curves a couple of years ago, but can still do this ride. I don't know if this helps or not; I know it would be better to talk to someone with more experience.

I have a bad neck, and when I ride RnRR I get a headache. I figured out that if I hold my head forward and don't let it knock from side to side my neck is fine.

Eddieras: Mission Space does not hurt my neck at all. It's not a rough ride.
