Does Gary Papa have cancer AGAIN? Oh my God, I just noticed he's totally bald again, and appears to be swollen. Just like he did the last time he battled cancer.

Just a few weeks ago, at the Phillies celebration, we commented how great he looked. Very healthy.

Dear Lord, this poor man cannot get a break. :guilty:

We just noticed that too. We really don't watch sports but it's hard not to notice the previous transition. It does look like he's having treatments again. That's too bad if true.

Gary Papa (born September 2, 1954 in Buffalo, New York) has been with WPVI since April 15, 1981 and is currently the 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m., and 11:00 p.m. sportcaster. He joined the station as a weekend sportcaster and was promoted to the 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. newscasts in 1991. In June 2005, he added the 5:30PM. newscast to his duties on an interim basis until a replacement can be named. Gary Papa currently co-hosts with Cecily Tynan the Saturday evening public affairs show Primetime Weekend. [1] He has hosted the program since December 1, 1983 when he took over after the sudden death of Jim O'Brien. In April 2004, he revealed to viewers that he had been receiving treatment for prostate cancer and lost his hair as a result. He continued to work while receiving chemotherapy. Three years later in July 2007, during the 6:00PM Action News broadcast, a teary eyed Gary Papa along with Jim Gardner announced that he once again was going through chemotherapy [2]. Gary lives in Saint Davids, Pennsylvania. His house is an unofficial landmark of Radnor Township. Many curious Philadelphians make the trip down Chamounix Road just to get a look at his house. Gary and his wife Kathleen have two sons, Nathaniel and Tucker.
It seems Gary's cancer has returned yet again. As he is showing thinning hair yet again on the November, 24th, 2008 5 pm broadcast.

My dh, who really follows the personal lives of the news people (weird, huh?) said that, sadly, Gary Papa does have cancer again.

Ugh, I thought so. :sad1:

But he still has that great attitude and energy he is known for. Hopefully he'll beat this again, and he'll get the break he deserves.

Everyone here has already answered, but I was hoping he didn't. :sad1:

I'm glad to see him on the news however, and see that he's not letting it stop him.

Although I do wish they'd give my boy friend Adam Joseph better hours. I can't seem to stay up that late!

Sadly, he is a reminder to have a PSA test and a diigital exam. Three bouts of prostate cancer sure seems unusual.
