Pam:

Of all the posters, you seem to know a lot about OKW and I've always appreciated your views so hope you can help me out....we are big OKW fans and usually stay in a unit close to the main area. I read your post to my question about "the best thing at OKW" and it made me so homesick! It also made me wonder if there are better units to stay in to enjoy the real feel of OKW...where would you recommend us putting a request for?

Thanks!

Joan

Joan, I'm blushing. I don't have specific units but I usually ask for 2nd Floor, golf course view. If you look at the map Bldgs. 25-29 and 33-38 have pretty wide open views. Drawbacks are you lose the 2nd entrance to bath in 25-29 and you can have a fairly long walk to the bus stop from the high 30's. I also enjoyed staying on the canal one year but you have the problem of being "in between" bus stops. It's hard to get really good views from the studios since they tend to be on the corners and "shielded" by trees. I've never stayed in the Miller's Road area but some people have described nice views from there too.

If you find a unit you really like, make a note of it. Same with a unit you dislike. As time goes by, you can accept or reject while checking in.

Hi Pam, If you check this thread again - As far as studios at OKW, in your opinion, the golf course views are better than the water views? Just wondering in case we stay there in Jan! It's our home resort since '97 and we haven't stayed there yet!!!
We really like nice views!!!

Thanks! :)

I've only stayed in a studio a few times so I'm not really an expert. If you don't mind a little further walk to the bus stop, you might have pretty good luck with studios in the same golf course area I suggested earlier. Look at the map and get the buildings further down the horseshoe in the 30's. That way you won't be on the corner of a building where buses will be going by (they don't go down the horseshoe). I'm also guessing that a studio in 45 or 46 (on the canal) might be pretty good.

These are suggestions for trying to get a view. If being near the pool and bus stop are more important, Southpoint #52 and #53 work out very nicely. My brother's family stayed there one Christmas week. The view was neither good nor bad but it was very convenient.

We always request buildings 45 or 46 because we love the view of the Trumbo Canal. It is a lot of fun to watch all the boats go by on their way to/from Downtown Disney. We have always had either one or two bedroom units and have had great views. The only time there was any problem at all was once in a two bedroom lockoff unit in building 45 when we were on the end closest to Turtle Pond. The second bedroom occupants(the lockoff studio part) could occasionally hear the bus noise at the stop sign. To avoid any noise , I suppose bldg 46 would be a bit better. From the porches in these units you not only can see the canal, but you look across into a lovely woods. Very relaxing!! Since we always have a car, the walk to a bus stop never bothered us. It's not that long a walk in any case.
