Question for newly returned western cruisers re excursions!

Firstly I hope you guys had an amazing time! I'd love to hear from you about the excursions that you would recommend.....and those that you did not rate so highly! Can't wait to hear all your tales!

is the BEST! Do yourself a favor and book their stingray city tour instead of through DCL. Smaller group, nice clean boat, great video of you and yours swimming around w/ fish, stingrays, we even had a nurse shark!!!

I didn't do it but heard the rum point excursion was a waste, lots of travel time and only 1 hour on the beach w/ nagging seagulls eating your mediocre lunch! And the rum point w/ stingray city had even less time at rum point.

Cozumel is a swinging lively town w/ PLENTY of shopping, hair braiding, and beautiful water. Chakanaab had some good snorkelling but was crowded.

I AGREE CAPTAIN MARVINS WAS GREAT!! WE DID THE 2 HR 11 TO 130 TRIP......THE STING RAYS SCARED THE HECK OUT OF ME BUT THE KIDS LOVED IT.......ITS CHEAPER IF YOU BOOK IT ON YOUR OWN TOO 5 OF US COSTS ABOUT 100...... IN KEY WEST WE LEFT THEKIDS ON BOARD TO DO SOME GROWN UP TIME!!!!! I DONT THINK THERE IS TOO MUCH FOR KIDS IN KEY WEST... WE WALKED ALL AROUND DRANK SOME FROZEN DRINKS ATE SOME RAW BAR LOOK FOR SCHOONERS WHARF BAR... ITS SOOOO COOL ALOT OF LOCALS HANG OUT THERE........ IN COZUMELWE WENT TO PLAYA SOL BEACH OURSELFS RENTED A COOL JEEP 50 DOLLARS.....IT WAS EASY TO GET TO WE PAID 6 DOLLARS FOR EACH KID 25 DOLLARS FOR THE 2 ADULTS ( THAT GAVE US OPEN BAR FOR THE DAY} AND WE BOUGHT FOOD SEPARATE......WE LOVED IT !!! IT WAS SOOO GREAT TO STAY AS LONG AS YOU WANTED A REALLY COOL BEACH!!!!!! HOPE THIS HELPS YOU GUYS LET ME KNOW IF YA HAVE ANY ???????????? ANDICOCO

Andicoco..I am so glad to hear Pla de Sol was good. We had planned on doing this but I heard some REALLY bad stuff about it on another board (dirty water, rude staff, poor drinks). I have been anxious to hear from DISers who had been there. Did the kids like it? Are there umbrellas/chairs? If so are they extra cost?
How was the swimming? Thanks for any info!

We did the Atlantis Submarine in Cozumel. (We don't snorkel or dive.) Was really good. Went into the Chankanab Park and saw LOTS of fish; and a few divers. Got down to 120 feet! The reef was really neat too. Lots of coral. We did the Atlantis Sub in St Thomas. That was good; but IMHO this was better.

For those folks who don't haggle over prices. The ship docks right across the street from the Punta Langosta Mall. I heard prices are a bit higher there; but they didn't seem outrageous.

We took a cab to Mr. Sanchos beach ( 3 adults and 2 kids). The cab ride each way was $15.00 total in a van. Mr. Sanchos has no admission and is only 10 min from the pier. It was great there. The beach is nice, plenty of chairs and tiki huts for everybody. Bar right on beach with chair swings all around the bar. Band played right on stage by restaurant and small pool 3 ft. The food was great! Had some nacho platters and quesadillas. There are clean bathrooms and showers. There is shopping (huts) right when you walk in and there is water sports available right there. It was the best time. I can't wait to do that again. The music was great. Great atmosphere. Rent a float for $5.00, trampoline in water $4.00 for 2 hours, banana boat rides were $10.00. There was alot of other sports to do as well. There was massages being done on the beach as well - $35.00 1/2 hour.

hey relling......playa sol has lots of chairs,about 20 hammocks in the shade......pool with a shallow end for the little ones and a swim up bar you can buy the buffet....35 bucks all you can eat and drink pina coladas margaritas beer rum punsch but we ate a few nachos and quesadillas on our own ...the beach is very calm with a water trampoline out a ways. they also have a really cool jumpy thing for 10 bucks ..its like a bungee jump but you jump on a trampoline and your secured into it and you can jump up up up like 20 feet the kids loved it ..... they have clean bathrooms anda dj and icecream for sale.....they also have huts selling t shirts and stuff i guess it sounds alot like mr sanchos beach that darwin is talkin about so youll have to figure out which one ya wanna go toooooooooooo andicoco
