Question for New Yorkers

My kids have always wanted to go to New York City to see the Christmas decorations. Do they stay up after Christmas until New Years? We have time available to go there this Monday, December 29. Would it still be worth going? Are the store windows decorated like they used to do when I was a kid back in the 60's?

NYC is one of the best places to be during Christmas week. The decorations are amazing and there is such good spirit in the city.Make sure you go over to Rockerfeller Center to watch the skaters. Have fun!

Yes, watch the skaters, but unless you're planning on spending a fortune, dont BE one...
It's around$15 to skate and $6 or 7 to rent skates...
Plus theres no guarantee youll actually make it on to the ice! (well, if you pay you do!)

Just be ready for the crowds. Keep your hands on your bags and wallets. I was there last Sunday and it was crazy. But yes, it was beautiful. I try to go every year.
