Question for locals on driving time?

We will be in San Diego on the Friday(June 30th) our flight leaves from Burbank Airport. Our flight is scheduled to depart at 2:32pm. I figured we should be at the airport about 1pm. I checked Mapquest and it says it is a 2hr and 11min. trip from our location in San Diego to the airport. Does this sound accurate and how much extra time would those of you "in the know" build into your schedule for traffic?
We are planning on taking I-5 to get there. This seems the most direct way but will we be tearing our hair out with traffic? I've been reading the LA traffic thread so I "get" that it is busy and fast. If anyone has any other suggestions, I'm open to them but would rather plan a little extra time than risk getting lost on a more obscure route ( I can be a little directionally challenged  but am getting better).
Thanks for the help!

That time may be cutting it close. It's roughly 80 miles from Anaheim to San Diego and figure at least another hour from Anaheim to Burbank with no traffic, maybe a bit less. I'd figure on at least 3 hours driving time to make sure you aren't late.

I would say 3 hrs would be the minimum I would allow...if there is any accident on the 5 Fwy, it could be at a crawl or a standstill - for flights and other non changable time things, i always add in a "what if" allowance for accidents or such. ...its not the fast and busy that gets you, it is the slow and not moving jam packed fwy.

I hate to rush to get to the airport, so I would err on the side of being early, than late. You can always drive by the Disney Studios and check out the cool architecture (from outside the gate of course, but dont miss the 7 dwarf columns at the top of the main building)

Good luck whatever you decide.

Driving from Anaheim to San Diego has taken me 2 1/2 hours several times due to traffic on the 5. I would give yourself ATLEAST 3 1/2 hours to be safe because the traffic getting through LA to Burbank can be horrendous also. If theres any way you can switch the flight to another airport it would be better, because honestly that's about the worst airport to try to get to coming from San Diego. If you need to stay with it just give yourself a lot of time and if you get there early just relax a little from all that driving:)
