hello there... I believe it is liberty belle that is a CM on the railroad tour.... if so I would greatly greatly greatly appreciate a little information I have been looking at this tour and am very interested in doing it . is there any chance you could tell me what times they normally run... and also do you think I should make a ps for it in Sept. or does it normally fill up that time of the year

I will be on a silver plan using the "wish" vouchers if that makes a difference

thanks
Robert

:) Yes I am a tour guide for the steam train tour :)

The tour is Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. It begins at 7:30am (although they will tell you to be there at 7:15am...so that you make time for the early morning transportation). It usually runs until about 10-10:30am (sometimes longer depending on the tour guide).

Just a short overview: When you arrive at MK you will meet the tour guide right in the middle (outside the gates) when you book they tell you to meet at the guest realtions window, but we usually are right in the middle. Anyway, there is about 25-30 minutes roughly of Walt's childhood history and how he began his passion for trains, then you will board one of the trains and be brought back to the roundhouse. At the Roundhouse you will get the chance to get into the cab of one of the locomotives and see what goes on up there. You will then watch the morning crew prepare the trains for service (safety checks and that kind of stuff). Roundhouse time is usually about 30-40 minutes. From there you will take the train back into the park where you will have a short break (water and coffee is provided) and there is about another hour or so of the history of the trains, where we aquired them, how we keep them running, etc.

Definetly book it if you are interested. Some of the tours fill up others don't (we can take up to 20 on a tour). Better to have it booked than to miss out. You would have to pre-book it before arriving anyway (if there is room we can take walk ups, but it is very rare that anyone does walk up...most people have it pre booked). Using wishes is a great way to experience the tour, just make sure that you let them know that when you book it otherwise they will charge you for it at the time of booking. Also when you book the tour they will tell you that cameras are not allowed...that is a standard tour rule and does not apply to the steam train tour. We welcome cameras and even have some set up phot opportunites for you, so be sure to bring it along.

If there is anything else you had a question about let me know :)

thanks for the info liberty belle... it sounds like something I would enjoy if I can fit it into the schedule in Sept..

ohhhh now that I am booked I do have one question are there any types of souvenir's(sp?) given for taking this trip.. I had heard that at one time participants were given a railroad spike.. and at other times a pin or something? orrrrrrrr should I just wait and be surprised?

You get a sourvenir pin now.

They used to give out a RR spike. But they stopped it almost three years ago.

Airport security wouldn't allow it on the plane, sent them back to WDW and asked WDW not to give them out anymore.

O' I am so excited that you booked the tour. It is a lot of fun. Sept 20 is a Monday so I will probably not be your tour guide (I usually work nights on Monday) but you will have a great time, all the tour guides are wonderul.

As betterlatethannever stated the tour gift now is a pin. It is a tour exclisive pin. It was designed by one of our engineers. It is cute. We did have the spikes for a while but like she stated the airlines didn't like that so much and they asked us to stop giving them out.
