Do you know anyone who has gotten pregnant with an IUD in place? I have an IUD, but have been having symptoms of pregnancy but I am trying to just shake them off because from everything I've read an IUD is 99% effective. So I keep hoping it's all in my head - this would be baby #3 and although I would be thrilled with a third child, right now it would be very hard financially.

Anyway, just wanted to know if you know of anyone that got pregnant with an IUD.

Thanks.

I don't know of anyone personally that this has happened to, but it does happen.

This is not a "wait and see" time. If you have an IUD and you think you might be pregant (and you WANT to be pregnant) you need to hurry up and find out as the IUD can cause complications with the pregnancy.

Go take a First Response pregnancy test (the are $7.99 at Target and usually include a bonus test). If you are, you need to call the doctor and have the IUD removed ASAP.

I'm not trying to alarm you, but if you want the pregnancy to continue (IF you are pregnant), the IUD could cause you problems.

Oh stress! Take the test and get the answer.....either way it will take the anticipation out of the equation. I would never be able to wait it would eat me alive! Good Luck hope you get the results your hoping for!

Yup My cousin's third chilld was conceived while she had an IUD
and her Dr also said it could cause problems and she had it removed right away

baby is now 15 months old :)

Hope it works out for you however you would want
but definalty get a test

OK. I will be going to Target today to get a test. I'm really nervous b/c if I am, my DH is going to FLIP!

Prayers and pixie dust, anyone?

On the way!!!

So what are your symptoms and are you "late?"

P&PD...just get it over with! Best to know than not when it comes to babies. Maybe you are just stressed?

Or you can tell your dh to do what my dh just did...snip, snip...

Symptoms:

nausea
sore in chest area (TMI??)

I had what I thought was my time of the month - but it was very light, so I was thinking it could be implantation spotting which I had with both of my other pregnancies.

Frequent trips to the bathroom.

I have one other symptom that's TMI to post, but it was the the one symptom I had when I just KNEW I was pg with my DD.

So we'll see....I'll post my results tonight.

My mother did, but that was years ago. I am the happy result of that one. :flower:

P&PD~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I also concur with the other poster...if DH flips out...snip snip snip...My DH just had it done in September and I am SO happy to not stress about being PG since we have been done having kids for a while.

Looking forward to your update!

My sister just got an IUD on my advice (pills make her very nauseous) and she really doesn't want a third baby right now so I'm going to follow this closely!

I was told by the nurse if I thought I could be.. that i should take a test right away. How long have you had your IUD? It took me a while to get regular & I had a couple of times where I felt kinda weird with spotting.

Actually, I'll have to go back and look up the statistics but I think an IUD has a better "coverage" rate than a vasectomy. I read that somewhere and was SHOCKED to say the least as my DH has had the "snips". I think even my doctor told me the IUD is even better than tubiligation or vasectomy. The failure rate on those operations is higher than the IUD, but not sure.

I tested and...............

Thankfully it was negative.
I feel relieved because I was so scared that it might be eptopic! (not sure if I spelled that right).

I do have to confess that a little part of me is disappointed - I love my 2 kids and would LOVE to have a 3rd. Maybe someday I will.

Thanks for the P&PD!!!
