I don't think "not for profits" pay taxes. But I'm sure it was written off somewhere on their books. Maybe. Because that hospital recently paid a $90 million settlement to the Federal Government for getting paid more for services than they were entitled to.

i think they have their own complaints about particular issues. i will say that living in a state that borders canada it is not uncommon that some of our medical providers have tremendous waiting lists for appointments/procedures/surgeries b/c canadian residents travel here and pay out of pocket.

Unfortunately, Contractors will tell you their customers haven't figured that out. Their customers want the job to be done quickly, with top quality, and a low price. Not possible.

True! My in laws are in the UK and they don’t pay extra for health care but it’s not the same as here. They do pay for it though in the flat tax ever working person pays. We pay the tax and the insurance. I’d love to see a flat tax here. Imagine not having to file taxes. That would be brilliant!
An insurance company with significantly inferior provider discounts has to charge higher premiums and/or ration care. Alternatively sell the insurance company.
