Tell me about your benefits!!
One of my co-workers is leaving to work at the VA because the benefits are so much better than at our hospital. Several other co-workers have checked into benefits at other hospitals around the country (Texas and California to be specific) and they say we have the worst benefits of any hospital they have contacted.
Our hospital matches our 403b contributions up to 75% of 4% of our salaries (in other words, 3% of our salaries). They also contribute 3% of our salaries to the 403b up front. That's a total of 6% of our salaries, and we have NO other retirement benefits, period.
We earn 5.85 hours of PTO per payperiod. This covers our sick AND vacation time. I think we get 10 holidays.
We get $10,000 in free life insurance coverage.
We pay about $85 per payperiod for family health insurance with a $250 deductible each, ten dollars plus 10% copay for doctors visits, and tiered copays for meds ($10 for generic, $25 or $35 for name brand).
I think our retirement and PTO benefits are pretty minimal--how do they compare with yours??
