So I booked my trip and upgraded my room to the premium Disney view. I requested the 7th floor (not that I'm guaranteed at getting it) but from all the pictures I love the high windows. Now I know that a lot of light gets in do you think that it would be okay? I have a 3 & 6 year old who can sleep anywhere if they are tired enough, so I'm not too worried about naps.... or should I be worried about it?
Need some help from those of you who have stayed their before! What do you recommend? I'm excited because the Castaway cove should be open by then (end of August) and so I figure we'll take an afternoon break for swimming and a quick rest.
Just need some advice about the windows.:)

Well, if your kids can sleep in light rooms, then the extra spacious feeling the skylights add is quite nice. The only other problems I have experienced with 7th floor rooms is they are a bit noisier than the lower rooms because they are above the freeway wall. It's nothing that running your fan won't help, though.

So you prefer the top floor rooms better than the bottom floor ones? Oh do they have skylights on both sides of the room? I think I read that somewhere. We did Disneyworld a couple years ago and stayed at the AKL and did WAY more walking than we will do at Disneyland and we took short naps in the afternoon and then went back so I'm thinking the same thing this time.

We were just at HoJo's May 3-9, with DD4 and DS1 and started out in a 7th floor room. Between the light from the windows and added freeway noise, we switched rooms after one day to a second floor room. However, this was more because I am a light sleeper and need the room really dark to nap. :rolleyes1 Also, DS1 tends to wake up when it it light out(think 5:30-6:30am), so an extra dark room helps him sleep later(which we all needed at DL).

I was bummed to leave the 7th floor room, as the view was beautiful and the beds were the most comfortable I have ever slept in! As long as you are aware of the potential drawbacks, I think you'll be fine. :thumbsup2

We are returning in December--we just know to avoid the 7th floor for our family(ok--for me!).

We actually requested to not have the top floor. The light I don't think would bother us, but from what other said about the freeway noise, I think that would.

I just hope they don't put us too low though, I want a good view! Not to mention if we get some loud people above us, that might be worse then the freeway noise!

Our house backs to the freeway (but we have a great view) I guess that's like the HOJO so we are used to that type of noise. I guess the light was my question. I'm trying to figure what to do now? Is the view better from the 7th floor? I'm knowing we won't stay to watch fireworks every night, so I was thinking it would be nice for us to see the fireworks from the room while the kids start to conk out.

I'd say the view is good anywhere from the 5th floor up. We weren't really affected by the window light even during naps, and we are early risers so it didn't bother us in the morning either. I'd say stick with your 7th floor plans, you'll love the large feeling of the rooms.

This is good to know! We've requested top floor also for October. Then I started wondering about it, because the parks don't open that early, so it's not like we'll have to be up at 6 or 7 a.m. So maybe we'd want it darker to sleep later. On the other hand, I don't usually have a problem napping in a light room. And I guess we can bring our white noise machine in case it gets too noisy.

Thanks for the info!

Maybe I just didn't notice it but I had no problems having afternoon naps on the top floor with disneyview last November with our curtains closed. Their are no curtains over the top window so some light still gets through there. You could always bring little eye masks for everyone and then it wouldn't matter. But I had no problems.

I requested top floor , a lot of light gets in my room at home so no worries there. Hope the view is good, I can't wait!

Thanks for all the responses! I'll stick with my request and cross my fingers that I get it.

Love the top floor October through April. Summer season, no thanks (sunrise too early). The feeling of having extra room is great and have never had a problem with freeway noise in 8 + stays in those rooms.
