Actually 2 questions...

Does anyone know about when the individual tickets for NHL games will go on sale? I just saw the Bruins are playing the Mighty Ducks here on a Saturday night and I really want to take the kids. They are big fans of both teams and it seems the Ducks are only here on a school nights so this is perfect. But Im worried the tickets will go on sale while we are away in a few weeks and by the time we return the ticket agents will have bought them all up.

And I guess the more important question is has anyone heard any news on how things are going with the NHL lately? Is there actually going to be a season or not? :(

Where I am, the tickets don't go on sale for individual games until October, but that might not be so where you are...

As for the contract, last I knew there was yet another meet scheduled for the 17th, but no real headway was being made. The owners still want a salary cap and the players don't want to agree to it. Bummer...I was really looking forward to hockey season! :(

October would be good. Usually Bruins start in the first week of October, but I just checked again and the first regular season game isnt scheduled until 10/16. Maybe they are starting a little late counting on some problems. :(

I think the season is still up in the air,. Theres supposed to be another meeting next week I think but I dont think theyre really getting anywhere just MHO of course but as long as Bettman's got his hand in every pot were never going to get anywhere.

Good luck with getting tix that would be really cool!

Katie--Denis Leary was making the Radio Talk Show rounds this morning. I caught bits of him on WAAF and WEEI. He made mention that his charity game might be the only hockey we see for a LONG LONG time, and the sports radio guys agreed with him . They were saying maybe after the 1st of the year.

I'll be standing by with smelling salts to help revive CamColt!!! :teeth:

Ticketmaster only lists one Bruins game so far (a game in March) but they say on sale 9/25/04 at 10AM so I would guess that is the day they will all go on sale.

As for the labor talks, they started out promising but the most recent meetings last week left things at a standstill with both sides talking tough. As always, this will probably come down to the deadline before anything is resolved. They will seriously damage the sport if they can't get it worked out and I think both sides realize this deep down inside.

I wouldnt buy tickets until they settle this, I had season tickets for the B's during the last strike, you dont get your money back!

As I recall, Bruins tickets will go on sale in the middle of September, which would coincide with the scheduled start of training camp. This of course, hinges on Bettman and Goodenow getting their heads out of those crevaces where they don't belong, which is unlikely. I am an optimist from the standpoint that I hope they learned their lessons in 1994, but I doubt it.
I did read something interesting the other day though... there are whispers of growing dissent within the NHLPA to the point where if there is a lockout the players may revolt against Goodenow and try to replace him much like they did with Alan Eagleson years ago.

Hey, you know what? This is post #500!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont know about you but Im not holding my breath on that one!

Bettman needs to find a new job!
I, for one, would be glad to help him pack ;)
I dont think Goodenow is long for the job either, personally. There is a lot of uprising going on.

Will be interesting to see how this all plays out and who comes out alive ( or employed) in the end

Katie, tickets tend to go onsale in late August (presale), early to mid September. Of course, with the probable lockout, they may be waiting until after the current CBA expires (Sept. 15) to put the tickets onsale this year.

You may want to go to www.bostonbruins.com and sign up for the Cybear Club. You'll get e-mails with special offers, and the opportunity to purchase tickets during the presale.

I wouldn't worry too much about the game selling out--the Bruins don't sell out many games these days.

I think they should follow any and all advice, ideas, etc given by the president of the NHLPA. He is a very intelligent, personable, and generous man.

Thanks everyone! :D

And yes Debbie, I will need the smelling salts. ;) Hockey is the only thing that gets me through fall & winter. ;)

Thats right Karen. I remember buying them in a presale once, in early September, thats why I was wondering this year since Ill be away until the 5th. Surprisingly the last few games we went to, last year, actually were sold out, so thats why Im concerned...especially a Saturday game. I dont want to spend $100+ per ticket through a broker. ;) When we take the kids we usually go for the cheap seats, LOL!

If the NHL does lockout, there's always college hockey. (which may or may not be a better game than the NHL, but it's certainly cheaper than the NHL, and if you're in the Boston area, you've got 4 teams to choose from, as opposed to just 1 with the NHL)

Good point, SW! College hockey is definitely easier on the pocket book, LOL! And my kids would probably be just as happy at a College game. But mom & dad on the other hand are (dare we admit it) big Bruins fans. And like I said, with the Mighty Ducks coming to town that is like the ultimate game for my kids. :hyper:

I just want to say again that they should listen to the president of the NHLPA to get this deal done. Just do whatever he says ;)

I would suggest calling the box office at the fleet centre they will be able to give you a more definate answer. I am sure they have the ticket schedule allready.

It's times like this that I'm glad we're only in the AHL :D

Very nice Anne! I love it when the Devils win begins Pandolfo is a local boy and he always brings the cup to his towns common on his day. Its such a thrill to go see it. ::yes::
