Question for High Crowd veterans

Traveling in July and had plans all worked our--rope drop for headliners, FP+ rides for busier afternoon/evening time---until the additional FP+ offered after first 3 used. Should I still use this strategy, or should I book FP+ earlier with hopes of picking up additional FP for later in the day. It is a blessing in one regard to be able to pre-select at 60 day mark, but also kind of a curse since I have to make choices prior to busy summer season starting so I could see how things pan out. Please, any veterans, I would welcome your input.

We have been many times in July and it is busy. We will be there July 5-12. I made all my FP+ in the late morning early afternoon. We like to be there before rope drop and ride a few headliners first thing and then do them again with FP. I thought making them early would help with being able to get the 4th FP+. Get to parks early. You can get a lot done in the first few hours. A few of the parks open a little before the posted time so get there early.

Have a good trip.

I want to follow along for some of this advice too.

We are going on our first attempt to visit during a busy time too, tail end of July, first of Aug, returning home day before school starts back. We've always gone during pretty light times in the past. So this is going to be brand new

I'm still tossing around how to book our FP so we get in the most attractions, avoid the heat of the day and enjoy our resort (AKL). It's our first time using FP+ in any manner, though not our first trip.

On the assumption that additional fastpasses over the initial allotment of 3 may/will be hard to come by in the high season, my strategy would be to hit rope drop and power through on standby until the crowds hit at 11, and then have my passes scheduled during the busy afternoon hours.

My biggest concern, and I don't think we have enough evidence to know how this will shake out yet, is that last minute fastpass planners will only have early morning passes available, which, if they take them, could lead to lengthy standby lines first thing in the morning when rides are traditionally walk-on (even on busy days).
