Because I have never been on a cruise before I have a few questions for all of you that have. First, my DH is a very light sleeper and has concerns about how noisy the cabins are (we are in a cat 4 gty as of right now). Do you hear much room to room noise or from the deck above you?
Second, if you are a super picky eater could you request a particular food say... steak... every night of the cruise? Again my poor DH is thinking YiKEs all this fancy food and I just want stuff I know, sandwiches, steak, bacon cheese burger etc!! Any chance that this simpler fair is available at the restraunts? I really dont want to dine alone each night while he is eating at the pizza place!
And my last question is(for now at least :earsgirl:) how would I find out the restraunts, topsiders, pizza etc hours of service. After reading the room service menu I was just wondering if there was another option for dining outside of regular hours like mid day between lunch and dinner or late at night?

All your help is most appreciated.
Pauline

Regarding the noise in the cabins, this is a very subjective thing. Some people report being kept awake by the noise of the ship creaking. Some find the ocean noise soothing. I know of some people who pack a white noise machine to drown out the ambient noise. I've never stayed in a category 4 room, so can't really comment on them from personal experience. I have heard some reports of passengers in these cabins hearing noise from activity on the deck above (deck 9, the pool deck) and others who report never being bothered.

Each night in the main restaurants, in addition to the main menu selections, you can also order steak, grilled chicken or fish, so there shouldn't be a need for you to eat alone.

There are other food options available pretty much all day long. The pizza place, Pinocchio's Pizzeria, is open from late morning until dinner time, and then often again at night. Pluto's Dog house (burgers, dogs, etc.) is open almost all day. Probably from 10-10, anyway. The buffet is open for extended hours for breakfast and lunch. Probably 7-10 for breakfast, and then maybe 11-1 for lunch. There's also usually a lunch buffet in Parrot Cay, and then one of the sitdown restaurants is usually open for lunch, too. On the 7-night cruises, the buffet is also open for dinner on most nights. I don't know if they offer this on the 3- and 4-night cruises, though.

I'm sure I missed some of the other options, but this might get you started.

Hi pclare - welcome! I will try my best to answer your questions:

I have always been on deck 2 and noise was never a problem, but maybe someone who has stayed on that deck can give you some insider info.

Super picky eaters?? My dd is the pickiest and your waitstaff will do the best to accomodate you.....They will go out of their way to make sure that you like what you are eating. I can't eat shellfish and I don't like very many things, I found that there was always the "staple" food for the less adventurous eater

The pool cafeteria (forget the name right now :confused3 ) is usually opened (hotdogs, hamburgers, chicken fingers, fries) & Pizza most afternoons and scoops icecream too :cloud9:

I think everyone will agree that you won't go hungry even if you are the pickiest eater.

Have a great cruise & welcome to the boards :cheer2:

We were in a category 4 stateroom, deck 8 (under the pool and close to the elevator). I was very surprised how quiet the room was! I slept soundly through the night, and I am a light sleeper.

Your husband should have no problems finding something in the dining rooms. I'm sure if he wanted just steak or chicken he could get it every night. They want you to be happy.

Have a great cruise.

From experience, yes, you can get steak every night. The couple we were seated with last time were very nice, very cool, but he was just a good ol' meat and potato guy. The staff was great about it, and by the third night were even making some suggestions on things he could try that would fit his tastes.

We were in a Cat 4 state room 8558 and you can hear deck chairs being dragged across the deck above. The good news is no one is moving deck chairs in the middle of the night, so never a problem while we slept. Only time we would hear it is when we were changing for dinners or pool time. We never heard any noise during the night.

In all of our cruises we have only heard noise with one cabin and it was because we had a crying infant in the room next to us. Other than that it was very quiet. It didn't bother us at all, but I can see it bothering some people.

We stayed in cat 4 rm 8066. Not too far from the elevators (or stairs). Close to the deck 9 drink station. It was great. No noise.
Your servers can get most anything you want to eat even if it's from one of the other restaurants.Or at least our servers did.
