Hello Escape Brides,
At the end of the cake reception, If we provide gift boxes, would the staff pack up any leftover cake to give to your guests & vendors?
Also can bell services deliver the cake to the room along with other items such as the cake knife etc?
Any info much appreciated,
Lauren

Lauren--

I'm not an Escape bride (and maybe one will pipe in with their experience), but I can tell you what they've told me as a Wishes bride. I've essentially been told that I can pay for boxes from Disney (so they'll provide them and pack up the cake for you)--but you are responsible for getting it back to your hotel room. I specifically asked if I could just hire one of the Disney people (like a bell service) to take it back for me, and they said no.

I don't know why they're like that...I'd think that'd be a service they could naturally offer and make a lot of money on it (because really, it's inconvenient and feels almost like I'm being rude to ask one of my guests to do it for me).

I don't know why it's like this. I would imagine for liability reasons. A wedding cake is a very fragile thing. They probably want you to be responsible for tripping and splattering your cake everywhere, not them. That'd be my guess.

Yeah we had to take all our stuff back to our room after the reception.

I had a wishes wedding so I can't really speak for the escape policies, but they did put slices of cake into the cake boxes we provided. We gave them to the planner with the rest of our stuff for the reception. They actually did it for us at the dessert party as well. The lady was so nice she even packed some with cake and some with cheesecake. The hardest part was trying to actually get our guests to take the cake!

The previous posters we correct in that we had to transport the cake top and all of our other wedding stuff back to our hotel on our own.

Thank you for your reply Tiffiny,
Are the cake boxes expensive that you can purchase from Disney?
I am surprised they don't offer this service.
Like you said, I don't want to expect my guests to do it for me!

Thank you for your reply.
I want to give cake to our vendors, so i'm happy that they packed up your wedding cake for your guests.
I have seen a personalised cake box i like on the internet too!
There will be plenty of leftovers of cake, we are having a small wedding with immediate family. There is only so much cake you can eat haha! :)

Yeah we had to take all our stuff back to our room after the reception.

Thank you for sharing this.
I worry about the littlest things, I keep thinking of things and writing them down.
I'm glad I can ask these questions on the forums hehe!

We paid the $10 fee for bell services to take our stuff to our room, but the top layer of our cake had to be taken by a person, so my mother took that for us. She had the contemporary freeze it for her for the trip home. Bell services took our cake topper, champagne flutes, cake knife and server, guest book poster, my bouquet and all of the items we brought with us (table name signs and holders, leftover favor boxes). We didn't check in to the grand Floridian until after our event, so they also brought our luggage they had been holding from the contemporary since that morning.

I just got an updated floral BEO today with boxes added in, and they're a $1.50/each. They gave me one box per person...so it's about $33.50 total. I didn't get a charge for the top-tier box...so I'm assuming that one is free.

I may have paid for the boxes for nothing. The more I think about it, the more I think I don't want to share.
