I have a question for all Disney Visa Cardholders out there. I recently received an envelope that says "Award Headquarters" as a return address. Inside there is a certificate that entitles me to a complimentary round-trip airfare to any of the Disney parks (US only), with the purchase of another one. Did you all receive this letter? I was curious because of the recent sweepstakes they had. They had mentioned that the winners would be notified on or around July 25th and my envelope is dated July 27th. I'd like to know if this was a gift to all cardmembers, or if I actually won something!!! :Pinkbounc Any info would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!! :earsgirl: princess:

We're Disney Visa cardholders and we get stuff in the mail all the time, but we didn't get that. So maybe you did win something! Congratulations!

Sounds like you won something. I am a recent cardholder, but I know I haven't received anything like that. Recently I got some info detailing in-park benefits and such, but no free airfare coupons.

Did you recently change your card to one of the new character cards? And did you charge at least $100.00 on the card during June and July? The reason I ask is Disney Visa offered as a "thank you perk" a free airline ticket, to welcome cardholders to Chase. It came in the envelope with the new Chase cards. I changed my card to vintage Mickey the beginning of June, (before I got the officially sent "pixie dust" cards)and I got my certificate the end of June. My DH & my account never came with the pixie dust Chase cards, so I got tired of waiting, and called and ordered our Mickey & friends (don't remember what they called it) card, and nothing was in the envelope about this perk when the new cards came. I didn't mean to throw a damper on your excitement about winning, sorry!

It is useless. If you spent $200 in the month of July or something like that you automatically got the certificate. You have to fill it out and send it in to get the "real" certificate. From my city I have to spend $500 for one ticket PLUS taxes and fees to get the second ticket. Then on top of that you have to pay for the "free" ticket's taxes and fees. OK... Then I got another letter in the mail that had even more restrictions on it for this ticket - like certain days you have to travel, etc.

It must be a joke. Sooo, I'm watching fares online instead. :rotfl:

Just when I thought I had won something :bounce: ....oh well...figures....it's very difficult to get freebies from Disney right? Je, je! :goodvibes Oh well!!! I never got the paper stating the "perk" of spending a certain amount of money, but everything fits in, I did change my card to the 50th anniversary one and I also did charge MORE than $100.00 to the card (trust me between being there May 5th and July 17th, I still have a balance!!!!! ) I thank you all for answering my question. I was planning on taking a trip to WDW next year, but I'm definitely going to search online for a good deal before even considering using the certificate. According to the certificate my ticket would cost $440 to WDW plus taxes etc, etc. I'll just have to start looking for fare deals!!! :)
Thank you!!! :earboy2:

When did they send new cards? I got a notice saying I'd get one, but nada since then, and my old card works just fine. Odd. Oh well, I've charged the last thing I will ever charge on the card (our trip!) already!

You can win free movie tickets; have you ever done that? I recently found out about this "perk" and have gotten 4 free tickets to Sky High and will be getting 4 free tickets to Valiant in a couple of week.

We got this about a month and a half ago. With any purchase of $700 or more on your card from 7/1-7/31 ( I think those were the dates for us) you get a free companion air ticket. From Denver to MCO, it will cost us $400 for two tickets with this "special"....not a GREAT price, but better than airlines like Frontier, typically offer, so we will take advantage of it for our WDW trip next year (as long as it non stop). It is good on travel from a list of major cities divided into "zones" and it is good only to Burbank, Long Beach, LAX, Ontario, SNA, Palm Springs, San Diego or Orlando only and travel must be completed by 11/16/06. Fares range from $280 (Eastern US to Orlando) to $500 (Southern US to the West Coast). That is the cost of the first ticket and the campanion is "free".

It was, to my knowledge, a "thank you" of sorts for current card holders staying with Chase or Bank One or whoever they are now during the change over. A friend of mine who just got the card in June was not eligible for the offer, they said she was "too new" and it was reserved for existing card holders only.

Depending on the zones you are traveling from, this can be an OK deal, provided the 'restrictions/black outs' aren't a problem. Assume that holiday time is out. For my Phoenix to Orlando ticket, I would have to spend $400 (plus the taxes). I have often gotten deals one line for round trip in the $200-225 range, so it's kind of a wash for me.....but then you can't always count on that $200-225 deal being available.

The amount of money you had to charge in June-July was different, based on your balance and/or charging habits. Mine required a $600 expenditure, which I wasn't going to do as I still had a balance I wanted to pay off. However, unexpected household expense came up as well as a car repair, which I had to charge, so I used the Disney Visa. Now I've got the voucher.....here's hoping I can use it ::yes::

I agree that it really depends on the zone you're in.
We're in Arizona too :sunny:
I'm sending mine in to get the voucher just in case.
Like Jackie said, it may not be a bad deal for us flying into Orlando.

We'd be nuts to use it to fly into So. Cal. though.
I could probably buy 5 round trip tickets there for less than it would cost to get the free companion deal.

I'm still sending in for the voucher, you never know, it might come in handy. :rotfl: To the person who posted about the free movie tickets, how do you come across those?

I put my entire DLR trip on my Disney Visa (in July) ... I have the classic Red Pixie dust one... and I didn't get any perks...

Congrats if you win! Congrats if you got something free!

The perks are an awesome thing on the side, but, I just wanted a Disney card :p

Log on to cardmemberservices.com. If you haven't already created an online account, go ahead and create one. Then go to View Current Offers. Under Disney Entertainment, you'll see a link for Movie Screenings. Every now and then we will be able to either see a sneak peak of a Disney movie, or get tickets to see it during opening weekend. It's only in select cities though.
