Question for Dept 56 Village Collectors

This is only my third year collecting the Christmas Villages (original snow village) & we are ready for new lightbulbs.

Do you have to buy the Dept 56 Christmas Village brand replacement bulbs or will any brand's replacement bulbs fit into the bulb sockets?

My grandmother has been collecting these for many years and she does not buy a specific light bulb.

My dad has had 1 of these collections for ages. Any lightbulb does the job. As long as it fits the socket you are good to go.

I'm surprised they have burned out already. I have some a lot older than that and they are still going. You must burn yours a lot more than I do I guess. but I put any night light bulb in the few that have burned out.

Well, many of our pieces were purchased on Ebay or Craigslist (not sure if any were brand new, I think some were), but we keep them lit from first week in December in the emd of Feb/beginning of March!!

What wattage/size are the bulbs if we just bought generic ones? Or are the generic ones usually called Christmas village bulbs?
