We haven't been on a Disney cruise in several years and I remember that all non US citizens had to get up at the crack of dawn when disembarking to go through customs. Is this still the case? We have a cruise booked on the Fantasy but just want to know ahead of time what we are expected to do.:thumbsup2

We were on a DCL Eastern Caribbean cruise in early Dec. 2010 and were not required to get up at the crack of dawn to wait for U.S. Customs/Immigration officials to process all non-U.S. passengers (and cruise staff). Hope this remains the same in future.

Had no problems at all in Dec 2009 as well! I think U.S. customs figured out we're harmless;)

They changed this crack of stupid thing for all cruise lines some time in the past two years. I would say around the time we had to have passports to actually get on the boat.

It is so much better and so much more relaxing not having to get up at the crack of stupid when you arrive a St Thomas or return to Florida.

You also get to keep your passports now.

However, speaking of ungodly hours of the morning, if you have early dining, they will tell you that breakfast on the last day is served at 6:45 a.m. in a certain restaurant only. What they don't tell you is that the buffet is also open and you can eat anytime you want up til about 8:30... Then you just disembark with everyone else, and once inside the terminal, you will be directed to a line for non-US citizens, but it all moves pretty efficiently.

Well that is a relief that this cruise we won't have to get up so early. It made everyone super cranky for the rest of the day so glad it won't be a repeat on this trip. Thanks everyone.;)

It can happen - on our cruise last year, the Magic didn't dock at the Disney terminal, but at one of the ones further down the canal normally used for casino cruises. The customs arrangements were different than what we'd experienced the two previous years. We did have to get up early, and had to sit in the WDT for about an hour before the customs agents got around to us.

Like others have said, though - that's not the norm. For us, it was one of the 'taxes' for our extra day in the Bahamas. (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=35430219)

The line for non-us citizens tends to be shorter and quicker or so say the reports coming in :)

We cruised Carnival last year. Only call for early departure was if you could carry off all your luggage yourself - they called it "self assist". We did this as we were driving back to Ontario and needed as early start. I don't recall if there was a line for citizens or non citizens but I don't remember waiting any longer. We were through in about 1/2 hr from leaving our cabin.

We were on the Dream last week and we had filled out our declaration forms ahead of time and handed them to customs. We we were of the boat, we had a separate line for non-us residents and there were only a few ahead of us. They did ask us if we were leaving right away. As our flights were early in the afternoon, we left directly for the airport.

Breakfast at the cabanas started at 6:45. The buses started leaving after 7.

The whole thing went quite smoothly.
