I am just curious, as I am reading many of you were/are on a wait list for adding on at BWV, why is it so important to own there? I mean, what is the attraction when BCV is so close and it has many available points to buy. I was just curious, because staying at BCV still gives you the close proximity of the all the going on's at BWV.

Just call me "Nosey-Nancy" My names not Nancy, but it is an N name to go with Nosey..LOL

I own at BWV. I like the standard views, for our December trip it's 121 vs 155 points (6 nights 1 bedroom). You can see the Illuminations fireworks from the upper floor standard views, even hear the music. At BCV, I'd be afraid we would get stuck in one of those rooms right next to the road. There are more restaurants on the Boardwalk and we love stopping at the Bakery or Ice Cream Shop on the way back to the hotel. We don't use the pool, so that's not an issue. I do like the color scheme of BCV and the kitchen table (I've seen the model). The lobby is nice, I wish BWV had it's own sitting room. I didn't like the bathroom at BCV, it seemed smaller and not much counter space. Both are great resorts, the location can't be beat.

One reason is that everything is right at BWV . If you already have a contract at BWV, this means that you can get more points at your home resort. Also, for those of us who like preferred view, BWV offers a wonderful boardwalk view that you can't get at BCV. I also feel that the rooms at BWV are somewhat larger, and you are definitely a part of the hotel experience. Both of these resorts are home for me, but I prefer BWV.

When I am at the BWV, I feel as though I'm staying in a wonderful hotel--in much more than a regular hotel room. When I stay at the BCV, I feel as though I'm staying in just an annex. The BCV are just an afterthought, and to me, they feel like one. JMHO

(BTW, I own at both BWV and BCV.)

I am one of the people that was on a waitlist for more pts at BWV for over a year. I had essentially given up ever getting an add on at BWV in the pt range I wanted. I was in the midst of getting info about an add on at BCV when, I am happy to say, I got a call from my DVC guide as soon as they released the new BWV pts. I am now buying a 100 pt BWV add on!!
My reasons for holding out for more pts at BWV were:
It is much easier for booking window restrictions to have all your pts at one resort.
BWV has standard view rooms; the pt savings does add up to translate into additional nights of vacation!!
Unfortunately, many rooms at BCV have less than desirable views and considerable noise from the very busy road that they are almost sitting on. None of the rooms at BWV have the not so great views or the noise factor that some of the rooms at BCV have.
I like having restaurants, clubs, shops, boardwalk entertainment right outside the door. I love the nighttime atmopshere of the boardwalk.
The one BIG draw for me at BCV is SAB. I love that pool! However after weighing all the factors I am still glad an add on became available at BWV. I can always book trips at BCV to enjoy the pool and I will just have to bite the bullet and pay the higher pts and hope the best for a view and no traffic noise.

For me, the resort I'm staying in is important. It's the whole feel and the atmosphere of the place. Also, I like to sit on my balcony and people watch. In December one of our rooms overlooked Luna Park. It was so boring! I would sit, waiting, and get excited when someone walked by down below. LOL!!

From the time they broke ground on BCV, I just felt like they were kinda making room for it "behind" the Beach Club. I realize it's actually in front, but I'm looking at it from the Boardwalk. It just doesn't seem right to me. It's one of the same reasons that I don't like the Wilderness Lodge. It's too far away from the activity. If they moved the Wilderness Lodge out near the contemporary or the GF, it wouldn't be so bad. ;)

We're extremely happy with our choice of BWV as our home resort, however if DVC suddenly decided BWV and BCV points were interchangeable (re: 11 month window) we would have happily bought at BCV. The decision had more to do with adding points at our home resort with our same use year than actually choosing BWV over BCV. Having said that - given the choice I'd rather stay at BWV, not because I don't like BCV, but to us BWV feels more like 'home'.

We own at BWV and VWL and love both. We also like BWV more than BCV (have stayed in both) for lots of reasons stated above. One thing I haven't seen mentioned yet is that BWV has Grand Villas, BCV does not. If you ever think you might want one, that 11-month window is pretty important and at BWV a GV guarantees a boardwalk view.

The location and the standard view options are the main reasons. There's also the Community Hall. The attraction of BCV is SAB and the newness. In the long run BWV will have a slightly higher resale value.

I will let you know my opinion on Beach Club Villas after my first stay there, which is coming up in June. I already own at and love BWV, OKW and Vero, so I am anticipating to find BCV enjoyable as well. I better, since I already added on 100 points there, LOL!! :)

Thank you all for your response to this. I guess I was unaware that BWV and BCV were so different. I bought BCV after just touring the model. I never physically toured the place. I justthought where the two of them were so close, and use the same point value....that it wouldn't matter which one you owned. But having the GV makes a huge difference.
