Question for BLT people

Hi everyone,

We will be staying at BLT for the first time 8/7 - 8/17. We booked a dinner at California Grill for our first night there but the only dinner time we could get was 9:45. We booked it but my question is this; do you think that we'll be seated in time to watch the fireworks from our tabel? I would think that there would be people lingering at their table until they were over. Also can you actually see the fireworks from anywhere in the restaurant? Wondering if it's worth it to keep those reservations. Oh, I should also add that we are staying in a 2 bdrm theme park view room. Do you think we would have a better chance seeing the fireworks from there rather than go to the restaurant at all? Any thoughts/info greatly appreciated!

By the end of your stay you will be over the fireworks. You will see them from your room, the TOWL, and the MK, I wouldn't worry your first night. If you love CG keep the reservation but don't keep it to view the fireworks.

I do not think you will be seated near a window in time to watch fireworks from the Cali Grill. You are correct that most who were seated earlier will linger. The wait staff knows that and will time their meals accordingly.

That said, you could certainly walk out onto the CG deck and watch from there. Then eat afterwards. Many people do that. Just tell the waiter or waitress.

Assuming you are a DVC member or otherwise staying on points, You could also go up to the TOWL (Top of The World Lounge) or the surrounding deck to watch fireworks. There is a good view from there.

FWIW, unless you really want to eat that late at the CG for the food (and it is very good, IMO), I'd have dinner elsewhere and enjoy the fireworks from my own MK theme park view villa. The music is on the TV.

IMO, the best view of the MK fireworks is from Main Street in front of the castle. But the other locations are good when being in the park won't work.

OK you both confirmed what I thought. We've never eaten at The Cali Grill so I think what I might do is make the reservations for earlier in the evening for dinner and watch the fireworks that night either in our room or up in the tower room.

We enjoy sunsets from the CG. Parties of 2 who have ADRs for 5:30 will usually get a window seat. We've been 3 for 3. Enjoy! :)

you get a better view from TOW than CG does for the fireworks - so don't go to CG for that.

I actually like the fireworks better from TOW than main street, fantasyland (which to me is better than main street) or Frontierland.

my brother agrees with you

Some people we know were able to watch the fireworks from the TOTWL, even though they weren't staying there. Has the policy changed? They are DVC, but were staying at AKV. :confused3

Through August 25th DVC members staying at any WDW hotel can access the TOTWL. Parking at BLT will not be provided so Disney transportation must be used.

Last time we watched the fireworks from TOTWL, they did not have the music playing. Do they not pipe it in like they do at the CG?

We watched fireworks from the observation area (not the lounge) at TOTW a few weeks ago and the music was playing.

My biggest issue with fireworks from the California Grill and the TOTWL was the amount of condensation on the windows. We always go in late summer, so very hot and humid outside + air conditioned inside = not a great view through fogged up windows.

I'd prefer to view it from out on the deck. And even then, the angle from the top of either tower isn't my favorite place to watch fireworks. It's great if you're in the resort and just want to run upstairs to catch Wishes, but it certainly isn't a substitute for watching them from in the park. I love both California Grill and TOTWL lounge, but would force either in the schedule just for the sake of fireworks viewing.

IMHO, the only place to watch Wishes that's better than Main Street, is from a Fireworks Cruise. If I could afford to do that every trip, I'd be all set.
