I need some advice..... I'll be at the GF Oct 22-28th. Several months ago when I booked my vacation I thought that I could just add the DDP on later. I managed to get all the ADR's that I wanted including 5 character dinners/breakfasts for our party. I called yesterday to add the plan and I was told that I HAD to purchase a one day ticket. Ugghh.. I am an annual passholder. I didn't realize that you had to purchase a package. So now I'm at odds about the DDP. I was told it would be a little less than $1,000 to add the dining plan to my reservation. I am travling with two adults and my DD. It just seems like so much. So now I don't know what to do. Any advice..???

Thanks..

The dining plan is so tempting and it is a good value, but to have to pay for a ticket for each or your family when you already have the tickets might not be worth it. Now if you got the plan free (say during the free dining plan time) then maybe. I say take the ADRS that you have, go through the menus and try and talley up what you think you would spend and see if it is worth it. You should also consider the DDE card which you can buy and get 20% off all your meals. That probably would work out better for you.

If you do buy the tickets you can save those for a later time. You don't have to use them on this trip.

Good Luck!

$1000 sounds high, are you sure its priced with the one day ticket? If you know you'll come back to wdw, the ticket can be saved and upgraded later. If you aren't big eaters, DDE card may work better for you.

I'm another suggester for the DDE, especially since the price of one card will get you 20% off for up to 10 people on the bill (plus alcoholic drinks, if anyone gets them). At $60 dollars, not $1000, you should wind up waaaay ahead! :teeth:

I have the AP and have done the DDP while the AP was active. I simply saved my ticket for another trip in the future. I feel like I came out ahead on the food and have an excuse to go back after my AP expires. :)

Side note - I also got the DDE card and even with the DDP, the DDE has paid for itself in discounts on drinks, OOP meals, etc......

Did I write this? This is us too. We save the one day ticket to put towards our renewals (mine this month). We buy the package when it's worth it to us, like the free DDP, other than that, we are also DVC members and can add the DDP now without the ticket requirement. We also have the DDE card too (so we have all bases covered). The OP needs to do the math and find out if this package is a value for her family or not. Remember, the DDP can ONLY be added to a package which requires tickets for all and rack rate rooms. Only the DVC members can add the DDP to their ressies (plus renters to the DVC resorts too).
