Hi, I promise I tried to research this first, but having trouble finding info :confused3 .

We are considering giving in and purchasing annual passes. What is considered a year? Does it start from when it's first used at a park, or does it start from when it's purchased?

And just a quick curiosity question: I notice there's two lower priced annual passes for So. Cal residents only, then the next two are the Deluxe and Premium. Just wondering if So. Cal residents pay the same price as everyone else for the Deluxe & Premium?

Thanks for any info?

The SoCal annual passes are cheaper but at $129 and $169 but they only allow 170 and 215 days access to the parks respectively. The 170 day pass has all the weekends blocked out as well as most of the summer and winter breaks. The 215 day pass is the same except is allows access on Sundays. I really don't know who would actually buy these!

No matter what level of AP you buy, it expires 365 days after you first used it. So, if you first used it on December 31, 2008, it would expire December 31, 2009.

Once you get out of the assorted SoCal passes, everyone pays the same.

I thought is expired 365 days after first use...hmm.

The passes expire 1 year from the first day of use. After the So cal Passes everyone pays the same for a deluxe or premium pass. We have the Regular So Cal pass...it works out good for us because we aren't the type to go to DL all the time...ususally every couple months or so and we like to go sundays and during my daughter's fall break (which is not blocked out)... we don't like going during the busier times like summer/ saturdays etc. so for us it's the perfect fit.

That's right it is first use. I guess I thought day you bought it because I've always bought my pass and/or upgraded inside the park.

Also, I am pretty sure that if you upgrade, your pass expires from the date you first used your hopper/ticket that you are upgrading. So, we had 5 day park hoppers last Sept. and upgraded on the last day of our trip (Friday), our AP's expire a year from the date the hoppers were first used (Monday).

I had the $169 So Cal pass last year and used it about 4-5 times. I felt I more than got my money's worth, especially since I could also get 10% off in some of the restaurants.

And this doesn't count now, but in the future, if you first use it before a Leap Day, it's actually good for a full 366 days. :)

Um, hi!

I have the SoCal Select passport, which is ideal for me. I'm not interested in going on weekends or holidays when it's packed, and I'm a stay-at-home mom, so I can make day trips.

There must be a lot of people that DO buy these passes, because otherwise they wouldn't bother selling them.

There were quite a few people who I worked with that bought these. Some of us worked 4/10 or 9/80 so they'd take that day off and go to the park. It works out well because some lived out in Lancaster or Santa Clarita and going 4 times a year is a lot cheaper with the So Cal pass.
