I do feel a bit cheeky asking about this but was wondering if someone here can help?
My party of 6 flies UK to MCO on sat 12th November, one of the party (Reg 72) has just had a bad groin strain and coupled with his arthritis in his hip he feels he may 'slow us down', he was wondering how to go about renting a motorised scooter thing (is this what they call an ECV?) what I wanted to know is
where do we rent one from?
how much?
how do we get it from ASMo to the parks with no car?
do they keep them at the park gates?
does anyone have a phone number etc for a rental company?
does Disney actually own these things or are they an off site thing?

I feel a tad guilty as I know they should be used for people with genuine disabilities or ailments and I'm sure he'll feel much better once he gets that glorious florida weather in his bones anyway
I thank you for your patience and your help
 carol

where do we rent one from?-disney or can rent privatly

how much? 50 dollars a day if i remember right.

how do we get it from ASMo to the parks with no car? disney transportation will load it and allows these on all buses.

do they keep them at the park gates? yes, thier at the front of all the parks

does anyone have a phone number etc for a rental company? look at mu first post

does Disney actually own these things or are they an off site thing? yes disney owns them.but you can bring or rent your own from eleswhere

Thanks for the link but I can't find anything that answers any questions without costly long distant calls, they all seem to be selling the scooters not renting! :confused3

sorry crossed over looking at the link and your other posts, thank you thats so much more helpful :cloud9: will investigate

There is a disABILITIES FAQs thread at the top of this board that gives exactly what you are looking for. Here is a link to that thread.

We have all the different ways you can get an ECV (scooter), companies that DIS posters recommend, bus information. When you click on the links to get to the websites that rent ECVs, they have information about their current prices. Informaion about current prices from the parks is on the thread.

if someone feels like pushing him.

disney all their resorts have free wheelchairs. I always get one for mother.

it does not have a motor - but it will be.

just ask for one at the All star movie when you check in. if they don't have one then I would go to outside source.

of course if it must have a motor - then I would go to an outside source.

most of the WDW buses have wheelchair access. So all the wheelchairs I have send will easily fit on a WDW bus.

oh mother hated the scootors - if you are not use to riding these things make sure he can practice before you go off to the parks. Mother hated it and has refused since to try one again.
