We are a family of 4 and belong to both airline's FF programs. We all have a few A+ credits and a couple RR credits under the old plan (besides newly accumulated RR points). I'm trying to find a way to keep the credits from being wasted/expired. I know AT allows people to transfer credits to another AT account for $19/credit.
So is it feasible to have the rest of my family transfer their A+ credits to my AT acct, then transfer those to my SW account? I could then supplement with points to reach a standard award (under the old system).
My family also has some old-system RR credits that can be converted to A+ credits. Could I then pay the $19/credit to transfer those to me?
I've never transferred A+ credits so I don't know if once they're transferred if they have all the flexibility as my own, as if I earned them myself.
They will otherwise go to waste and even with all the transfer fees we'd still have a RT ticket for around $179. We are planning a trip to Cali for summer of 2013. Most flights I'm seeing for this Aug are $220-315 one way.
