question for a newbie

unsure if this is where i should post this. if not, mods feel free to move it to the proper location. my question is this: exactly how does the adr system work? exactly what happens when calling disney dining. would like to make reservations for the new t-rex restarant and for chef mickey's character breakfast! any advice you can give will be greatly appreciated. will be me, my mom and my two boys ages 4 and 10 on this trip. it is our first time to wdw so unsure as to where to start.

Call 407-WDW-DINE. You will go thru some automated menus and might hold a short while (don't worry, there's Disney music), and eventually you get a Cast Member.

Basically you will give them the number of people in your party, the dates, times, and restaurants you want, and they will work to get you those reservations or provide possible alternatives.

Its not difficult. Anytime you are dealing with a Disney Cast Member, its safe to assume that they will be as helpful as humanly possible which means you are in good hands.

**If you arent sure what other restaurants you want, use the Advanced Dining Finder on Disney's site.

It is also very important to remember to call ASAP to make your ADRs because some restaurants book quickly. I'm not sure what's going on now, so it's either 90 days before your trip, or 180 days. As for T-Rex, I believe you have to call the restaurant to make the reservation since they are not Disney owned.
