Hey everyone,
Just wondering about this....does anyone out there work a full time job just to fund their vacations to WDW......I start my new full time job tomorrow a.m. and the nerves are just about to get to me.... :sad2: :sad2: My DH works and makes good money and I did work part time and was off the other two days and my 2 yo DS is now in a private preschool full time and LOVES it and we were doing perfectly fine, however, we were not able to really afford extras like a Disney vacation and I decided to start looking for a full time job found an awesome one, got offered great money and I start tomorrow, ugh, i think i am going to be sick, it feels like the night before the first day of high school or something, just needed some encouragement from you guys and wondered if I am the only person out there who is crazy enough to do this????
Thanks,
Kristy

You will do fine! I know it's easy to say "Don't worry", but you really don't need to worry! I know the feeling, like being the new kid at a new school, scarry untill you make it through the first week.

I started my job to fund our vacations. One of the smartest things I ever did. It's nice to go on vacation and not feel guilty! :goodvibes

Good luck tomorrow and be sure to post how it went! :flower:

I think I need a part time job to help cover mine! Maggie

Heck, I worked at FT and TDS PT for 11 years to "support my addiction." My Disney addiction.

Good luck with the new job!

My husband and I are now both self-employed. He's an opera singer and I recently started my own advertising agency after years of working to make other people rich. But, during our second year of marriage we were quite broke. The opera season is Sept-May and my husband was just out of school and not singing very much. We wanted to go to Disney for our 1st year anniversary on 8/15. So, during the summer my poor husband worked 4 different jobs just so we could go. All part-time, but he ended up working something crazy like 70-80 hours a week. I had a regular full-time job that pretty much paid the bills and living expenses. Had he not done this, we wouldn't have been able to go.

Six years ago I started a job just to fund a trip to Disney. Like I said, SIX years ago. Once I started the job, I really liked it and the bonus was that it did pay for the first trip and 3 additional ones since then. In between trips, the "extra" money goes to college expenses for the kids. I don't think we would have been able to travel if I hadn't gone back to work. Sometimes it can be a drag and my house is usually a disaster area (much less time to keep up with it), but I keep a picture of my family at WDW on my desk as motivation and incentive. Hope you enjoy you new job - good luck!!

I've never really had a choice to "not work" outside the home (trust me I'd love to be a stay at home mommy/wife but at least with the full time job I have and my husband's salary, we have a nice home, can afford vacations to Disney and things for my son that we wouldn't be able to otherwise.

I started a part time seasonal job last August just to get me out of the house while the kids were in school. We used the extra money for birthdays and Christmas then the kids and I decided to quit waiting for dh to agree to take a trip to Disney. On Dec 31 we opened a savings account just for Disney and my paychecks went in there until I done the end of Feb. I'll go back in August and do the same to finish paying off our November trip then we'll keep the account to start saving for the next trip. I didn't *start working to pay for Disney but I'm going to *keep working to keep paying for Disney. LOL

In a round about way - yes! I work for an airline so we are fortunate enought to fly to WDW for free and get 50% off rack rate rooms. This allows us to take a big blowout trip to the Poly every year. We are finally at a point in our lives where I could stay home - but instead I'm chosing to go P/T in January just to keep my flight benefits! :goodvibes

Thanks you guys....made me feel so much better...first day went great, doctor is not as busy as i would like but it is money and i think i will take a picture of WDW with me to look at for motivation as well....good idea....again thanks you guys rock!!!! Hakuna Matata

I am a teacher and my salary funds our WDW vacations! I waited til DS was in school full time before I started teaching. I love that we share holidays and summers and I can take Daxx, DS8 and me to WDW!

It's the one thing that helps get me through the school year!

I'm glad to hear your first day on the job went well! I have a small part-time job and 100% of that money goes into our Disney fund. But its such a small job that 100% of the money is a pretty small amount. I would like to work more if I could find something. Good luck in your new job! I love your idea about taking a WDW picture with you! Sometimes I think about Disney while I'm doing my work - it helps!

Yes, :earboy2: I have been saving all my money to pay for our up coming trip to Disney World.I also stuck a Mickey Mouse ::MickeyMo and a piglet sticker at my desk to remind myself on BAD days :badpc: were I will be soon!
On 3 more Months :cool1:

yup and my office is filled with Disney!
reminds me of why I go to work every day

I pretty much worked as a substitute high school teacher since December to pay for next November's trip to WDW. I'll work Sept & Oct. or next school year to eat at WDW - I hope it's worth it!

I am working a part time job, in addition to my full time job, to be able to add an extra day on our stay, and while it is exhausting and aggrevating, I keep thinking about living it up an extra day at the Poly. It will also allow me to splurge while at WDW, as opposed to worrying about every nickel and dime. Let's just say I'm keeping my eye on the brass ring.

Funny you asked this question. I've been a stay at home mom for the past three years. Just the other day I got an email from my old employer asking if I'd like to work part-time this Fall. The first thing I thought of? The money can go towards another Disney vacation! LOL I guess we are all a little crazy...but hey, that's okay...it's the good kind of crazy! ;)
