Question: Adding Disney Hotel to 7 Day

We are so excited for our 7 day cruise in 2004 that we are thinking of adding a couple of days at AKL before the cruise. We have some questions on this and appreciate everyone's help:

1) Has anyone added a stay prior to the 7 day cruise at a Disney resort? If so, did you do it seperate or through Disney and/or a TA?

2) Were you able to have your resort key be your room key or is that only on the 7 day package?

3) Could your bags be transported from the resort to the cruise ship?

I have never done this, but I think I know how it works.

1)Book through the same means that you booked the cruise and have them linked.

2)For the 7 Day cruise you have to check in at the Port and get more KTTW cards.

3)I believe that you and your bags can be shuttled to the port together, not sure if there is a charge for this, but I assume there is....

Yes, we did this in October of last year. We booked through DU; told them we wanted the 4 days before the cruise at the Beach Club. We also had Disney air and transfers. We did our check-in at the hotel; our hotel key was also our cabin key. We did not check in again at the port. The baggage pickup worked the same way as it does on the 7-day Land/Sea--it is picked up from your room and magically transported to your stateroom.

BTW, before anyone says it, I KNOW this is not the cheapest way to do it--but it was absolutely seamless!

This is our 4th time booking a pre land package. Feb 2000 4 nights WDW and 4 night Wonder......7 night Eastern Nov. 2002 with two prior nights....cancelled. 3 nights land 4 night Wonder and two nights after (replacement for cancelled cruise). I ALWAYS book thru DCL myself. 1)Call and ask for pricing for the two days prior. 4 of us for 2 days Thanksgiving weekend was about 700.00 more dollars at POR including hoppers and transfers.
2) Make sure you book a WDW resourt......The Swan and Dolphin although nice hotels ARE NOT WDW resourts.....thus NO KEY TO THE WORLD CARDS!!!!! They KTTW cards are more convenient. They are your park hopper passes, your charge card, room key at the resourt and room key to the ship. Thus one room key for every person.....not just for the two adults. There are more advantages than that...these are just a few I can remember. Good Luck!!!
