Question-Adding Day or Two to FD package

I just got back from a wonderful 6 night/7day trip. It was our first WDW trip and we all fell in love with the place. I booked the bounce back offer for next summer for FD at POFQ. Very excited. I have a question and I know I could call Disney, but my kids are home until school starts on Thursday (we're in NJ) and this trip will be a surprise. I booked 7 nights from 8/20-8/27, but am thinking of adding a day or two. I don't want to add on the end of the trip since that will be Labor Day weekend and I expect flight prices will be higher. If I add a day or two before the FD dining promotion and pay out of pocket for meals, will Disney do that as a RO rez? I'm thinking of doing this because one of my twin daughters tired so easily this trip. It was the heat and the pace - she just needed more rest and pool time. I'm thinking 1/2 days in parks with some evenings off. An 8 or 9 night trip would make this more possible and relaxing. Has anyone ever done this? Will I have to pay a separate deposit for the one or day nights before the FD package? Should I do this sooner rather than later? Any advice appreciated!

Yes, you can do a 2 night RO before the FD package. You'll need a 1 night room stay deposit for that portion. I'd do it as soon as possible to make sure you get what you want.

As the pp said, you can do a 2 night RO reservation prior to your FD package, which will require a deposit equal to 1 night's room rate + tax with the balance due at check in (if more than 1 night is booked). I wanted to add that if you book the same resort/room type as the package, have the reservations linked and put a request that you would like to stay in the same room. When you check in for the first reservation, tell the CM that you have a continuing reservation and would like to keep the same room if possible. It's not guaranteed that you won't have to move, but Disney will do everything they can to keep you in that room. Also, keep in mind that you will have to check out/check back in after the first 2 nights.

You're welcome :)

Also wondering if I added a day or two on to the end of the trip, that wouldn't require another deposit and would be just one reservation. Has anyone ever gotten good flight deals on Labor Day weekend? Say on Sat or Sun?

If you added a day or two to your package, it would not require another deposit. A new deposit would only be required if you added on nights as a RO reservation as that would be a separate reservation from the package. We've never traveled over Labor Day so I can't comment on the cost of flights on Monday, but Sundays are usually higher priced as that is a big travel day. Hopefully others who have traveled that weekend will be able to give some insight as to flight costs :).

Thanks mickeynut1, I'm thinking it over. I'll def avoid flying on Sunday. I may just add a day or two onto the package or even change the dates so we leave after Labor Day. That seems easier. Our schools tend to start a few days after Labor Day anyway.

I just wanted to point out that it won't be the Labour Day weekend at the end of your trip (which happens to be the same time we are travelling). Due to the way the calendar works in 2015, the first Monday in September, Labour Day, is not until September 7th.

Oh, thanks for pointing that out! I didn't notice that. Much appreciated :)

You're welcome. Good luck and have fun planning :).

Thanks, Mickeynut1 and Stitch'sCousin for all the tips. I was just able to change my dates to an 8 night package, 8/25-9/2, thereby avoiding Labor Day weekend and keeping the FD for the whole stay. Woo hoo! Wish it wasn't so far away. Will surprise my kids as a Christmas present :)
