We will be at WDW in December staying at the AKL, we just about have the resort paid for, my question is will the resort allow us to send more than the amount of the room so we have a credit balance on our account for spending money???? Seems like a good way to save for the trip...

I would say no - I know you can give them cash at checkin to use room charging privileges. Call the resort directly. I am sure they can answer.

I have no idea if they allow this, you need to leave a CC# if you want room charging privileges.

If you feel a need to save you could always buy Disney Dollars they are for sale at Disney Stores or travelers checks. I would just get travelers checks, most banks do not charge their own customers.

Yes - we do this ALL the time. Most recently this past June. Just send the "deposit" with your reservation number, and the funds will be there when you get there. We plan 12 months + in advance, and send a few hundred dollars each month.

In the past, we have sent enough to cover our room, our passes, and some $$ for expenses. We always get raised eyebrows from the check-in CM, with "Hmm... you have a CREDIT balance of $2,000." But, no one has ever complained or said we couldn't do it.

Not a sound financial decision, we know, but it works for us.

I like to send in a little along and it does help. Just make sure your ressie # is on the info. I have even left with Disney owing me money. That raised the CM's eyebrow when we checked out.

Now THAT'S new to me. We always arrive with money on the account, but have never left with money on the account. Maybe that will be my goal for next trip.
