My DD just brought home a school fundraiser with Yankee Candles. I've never bought one before, so, before I spend a fortune here, what makes them so special? What is the 'best' scent?:D

if you like fruit smells the Macintosh Apple is the best!
(I just bought 3 of them the other day)

Holycow

They have much stronger scents than a lot of other candles. The large jars last quite a long time. I like Island Mango and Vanilla cookie. I am sure you can get someone here who likes each scent.

What makes them so special is that it is a quality product. It burns evenly in the jar and smells wonderful!

I like the Tarts over the big jar candles. This way, you can sample lots of different scents for only about $1.00 each! They smell stronger too! But I started out buying the jars.

I have too many 'favorites', but if Key Lime Pie is offered, buy it!

I also like Clean Cotton, Pineapple Paradise, Seaside Holiday, Orange Cupcake, Warm Apple Crisp and Buttercream!

My newer favorite has become Ocean Waters. I also like flowery ones and Clean Cotton is becoming another favorite. You just can't lose with those candles. They are high quality and they do burn much better and longer than most other candles. They are pretty equivalent to Colonial Candles (I think that's the name of them).

<font color=navy>I really like Yankee Candles, though I prefer partylite because they melt at a lower heat and are so pretty in a liquified state.

Since Yankee Candles are so available, I buy more of them - my favorite scent is Buttercream yum yum

I love "Home for the Holidays", "Macintosh Apple"and my favorite is "Home Sweet Home" These are all a bit spicey.

My favorite is actually a combination:

If you burn a coconut and pineapple, it smells just like a Pina Colada.

I really like them for their long life and great great scents. I really don't think you could go wrong unless you just buy a scent you really don't like.

www.yankeecandle.com if you want to do some research

I like sage and citrus, bergamot and mandarin, midnight something or other, tulips is nice. I like the tarts too. They last forever.

Love them!!

My favorite right now is Blueberry Muffin.....oh my!! :teeth:

Burned Oatmeal Cookie last night...yum!! (but that's a discontinued one).

I like the spicy ones too.........Spiced Pumpkin, Home Sweet Home.

I was looking at the large jar candles (is 18.95 the going price?). One other time, I had gotten a large candle in a mason jar (looked like jarred fruit from QVC) and after it burned half way, every time I lite it, it went out immediately. Lack of air I assume  Does that happen with them? Also, since I got some really pretty votive candle holders from a PartyLite demo., would the Yankee candle votives smell just as nice?

Thanks for all the info! After getting "burned" from the last school fundraiser, I have gotten cautious! :bounce:

Do they offer tarts and tart burners? In my opinion thats the way to go. The tart burners are usually around $13 dollars and the tarts are a dollar a piece.....that way you can try all different scents and decide what you like. I was very leery at first about Yankee Candle. I kept saying what makes these so much better...but let me tell you THEY ARE!! They are 100 percent better than most you get in discount stores!

As for favorite scents...Key Lime Pie is wonderful!! It is by far my favorite. I also like the coconut and pineapple combined to make Pina Coloda. I like Spiced Pumpkin. Oh and there is a new one...they don't have the tarts just the jar candles and if I'm remembering correctly its Rose and Apple and it smells wonderful. For really strong try Buttercream!

That price is right for the large jar. And they do last a long time. I've never had a jar stop burning for lack of air.

My daughter's school had a Yankee Candle Fundraiser about two years ago and they raised $12,000 for their school.

Why, oh why, can't my kids come home with this???

I just got Current and Kathryn Beich!! Wrapping paper and chocolate....Whoopie!! :(

My DD, in elementary, brought the wrapping paper and chocolate fundraiser home last week!! I passsed on them though! The local schools are also doing a lot of flower bulb sales now too. That wouldn't of been too bad (did this one back in Sept.) but they got the order all messed up and I got some I didn't want and the ones I really wanted, I didn't get! When I called the school, they told me there were no 'extras' left, but I COULD return the bulbs and they would just have to LOSE that money!! What do you say to that?!!

This fundraiser does have the tarts and burner. The burner is $14.95, bags of 10 tarts for $11.95 in assorted fragrences (flower garden, fruit, and everyday), and 12 tart warmers for $6.50. Wouldn't the little tea lites also work for the tart burner?

Thanks for all the info! You guys are great! :p
