Hey y'all,

My family and I will be down there in less than a week. Both my mother and I are allergic to the smell of burning wood(yeah that stinks..its actually one of my favorite smells). Does the fireplace in the lobby give out a strong burning wood smell?

Thanks for all your help!

I didn't notice the burning wood scent as much as the overdone pine scent that was throughout the lobby. The fireplace is now enclosed, so you can't even see the fire anymore, which was a major disappointment to us. We had looked forward to having a drink and sitting in the rocking chairs in front of a beautiful blazing fire... but, alas... it wasn't meant to be!:(

oops...both my mother and I are also allergic to the strong pine scents. We have artifical trees here at home. :(
Is the pine scent really bad? can you smell it in the rooms?

Thanks!
Fiver

We didn't notice the pine scent or the fireplace either one from our room. We have stayed there three different times. But I may not be much help as none of these things bother any of us. I hope that someone can help you out!

What a disappointment! I think that really added to the ambience of the resort, especially during the holidays. I wonder why they did that? They still have the fireplace at the BWI/AKL open. Strange!

The fireplaces on the other floors are still open, right? We were on the 4th floor and there was a fireplace on that floor. Of course it was a gas fireplace but the entire lodge smells of burning wood and pine. I think it smells great but if you are allergic to that smell I would definitely stay away from it.

We didn't notice any of the scents in our room, but we were toward the back, facing the Villas... so we were pretty far removed from the main lobby. The pine scent was VERY strong in the lobby, though, as it did agrevate my allergies. Maybe it was just strong because it was around Christmas.
