Question about when DDP credits expire

Our original plan was to drive to Disney. We have the DDP for the entire trip and are staying at the Poly.

Today -- until midnight -- SW Airlines has its fares on huge sale. We are considering flying now. But we would need to extend out trip by two days. Poly is full for those two extra nights but we can get a room only at several of the other Disney hotels. We would like to just get a room only reservation.

My question: Since we usually have CS credits and snack credits left can we use those on our two extra days with just a room only reservation or do they expire the day of our package reservation?

THANKS for the answer!!!

Which means you can stretch their usage through the first of the two extra days, if you want to.

I have looked for this answer and can't find it so I thought I would ask here since it's similar.

I see that credits end at midnight on the day you check out but what about the day you check in? I will be arriving late afternoon and am on the regular dining plan. Does this mean that I will still get the CS, TS and snack for the day I arrive?

I don't think I would want a big meal when I arrive so I thought if I got the full day's credits I would book a Signature meal later in the week.

Thanks,
Susan

Susan, you get 1 TS, 1 CS and 1 Snack for each night you stay. :)

MomtoAlexnWilliam: Yeah...I've read that in every brochure and website around...unfortunatly that is not computing in my brain :confused3
I read that as if you stay 10 nights you get 10 nights worth of credits but I don't eat during the nights when I'm sleeping. :rotfl2: I think the wording is confusing me.

I have friends that have done the dining plan and swear that they have used full credits for every day they are there including check in and check out day. I just want to make sure I don't mess up my ADR's!

Thanks!
Susan

If you have the regular DDP for 10 nights you get 10 CS, 10 TS and 10 snacks per person to use over your trip. You can use them anyway you want from the time you check in until midnight on the day you check out.

I know! Maybe this will help. Let's say you check in on a Monday evening around 5pm and you check out on Wednesday morning around 10am. That is 2 nights of stay, but 3 days on property. You will get 2 TS, 2 CS and 2 snacks. You could use them as follows: Monday night dinner - TS, Tuesday snack for breakfast, Tuesday lunch - CS, Tuesday night - TS, Monday morning - CS and Monday - snack.

I think Disney assumes you will only need one meal on the day your check in and one meal on the day you check out. So in reality, your check in and check out days share meal credits.

Did that help???

Regarding split stays...

Say, for example, I purchase a 5-night package including the regular dining plan.

I also purchase a 5-night room-only reservation on the heels of the package plan.

So 10 nights total but 2 separate reservations.

Does the dining plan expire on the check-out date of the package or the check-out date of the room-only reservation?

Dining credits will expire at midnight on the day you check out of the package reservation.

Here's what we did when we had a split stay with the last 3 nights using a room only reservation. On our last day at the first resort where we had the basic DDP, we still had a few CS credits and a bunch of snack credits after figuring out what we'd want to eat that last day. We used the CS meals up on meals that refridgerate well. We used some of the snack credits for foods that would supplement a meal nicely in addition to some of the obvious souvenir and fun types snack credits. We picked these up at the resort we were checking into for the room only reservation. We just brought these foods straight to our room and put them in the fridge for later. It worked out well. Obviously this didn't provide all of our meals but it was a nice supplement to them, especially on a day around the resort.

Well, that's what I figured. Never hurts to ask, tho, so thanks for your kind replies (and helpful hints, clanmcculloch!).

If you check in to your second (room only reservation) will they automatically expire or are left over credits still good to midnight? TIA

Thanks...it makes sense now! I'll make sure I plan accordingly!
