My nephew (9mths old) will be cruising with us and have a question about baby formula and water. My sister uses the powdered formula so that will not be hard to transport. What do you do about the water? Do you bring your own bottled water or can you use the water on board? Thanks!!!

I have found the water on board to taste quite good.

I do not think that there is any problem with the water they make. It is probably purer than the bottled water you would have to pay for!

You could also buy a Brita water filter pitcher for the baby's water. Make sure to bring plenty of formula. I didn't last time and had to make due with what they had which was not the same as the Similac he was on. Have a great time.

When we cruised with out 8 mo, we found it was well worth the cost to buy the premade nursette bottles. We didnt have to worry about mixing, measuring, keeping cool, warming up, washing bottles, etc... Just pop a nipple on and it was ready, toss the bottle when done. :D

Its been a while(my youngest is 4 1/2), but I remember we made a special trip to Babies R Us to get it for the trip. I know hospitals have it, but probably not for sale. Im not sure where else it would be...maybe online?

The water on board is totally safe and actually tastes good. It starts out as sea water, and is then distilled to remove the salt and other minerals. Since this process involves heat to steam, it also kills bacteria. The water is then run thru a filtration process as well.

So...there's really no reason to bring any water on the ship. The ship's water actually tests more pure than many bottled waters!

I'm so glad you asked this question. I've been wondering the same thing for my 8 month old. :)

About the nursette bottles, if they are the same ones I'm thinking about, they only hold 3 oz. each and they can get really heavy when you're trying to bring a week's worth of formula, plus they are breakable.

you can order the prefilled bottles from whatever formula company your baby is on. Just go to their web site. Maybe they would even ship them to the boat?

Lovepuzzles, they also have(had?) some bigger ones...either 6 or 8 oz, I forget...like I said its been a while. ;)
Also we found bubble wrap worked great for the bottles and baby food jars we split them up between all the suitcases and it wasnt too bad. :D

Thanks for the tip on the bubble wrap. I've been trying to figure out how in the world I was going to pack the jars of baby food. Now my problem is solved. :hyper:

I always found the powdered formula was a lot easier to travel with than the premade bottles, as long as the water was okay.

I found the water to be totally normal on the cruise and it should work just fine for bottles.:D
