Question about waitlist

Good morning all-I’m wondering if you want to book something not at your home resort-7 months out-but find you cannot get anything. Do you book that week first at 11months and then try to change it? Or just go on at 7 months and hope for the best? What if you are flexible between a few weeks in the same month? And if you do book at your home can you still get a waitlist ? Will it automatically switch the reservation from your original?

I always book rooms at 11 months, even for times when I am more likely than not to cancel.

It’s just better to have something unless you don’t plan to go at all if you can’t get something you want.

You can’t put a waitlist in for a non home resort until 7 months or less. So, you’d know if something is there before needing to do that.

If you have a home resort trip booked, you can set up a waitlist to replace that if what you want at 7 months is not available.

When setting up waitlist, there is an option to select cancel and replace or new reservation (don't cancel an existing reservation)

Yeah, that tends to happen every fall. In addition to a wait list you need to stalk for openings & be ok w/ split stays.
