Question about Vow Renewal and renting from DVC member

My husband and I want to have an Intimate Vow Renewal sometime in spring 2005. In an effort to cut costs, we were thinking about renting a studio room at Boardwalk Villas from a DVC member. I have seen DVC members renting out their points on the DIS boards and on ebay. If we reserve a room through a DVC member, the cost is much lower than if we reserve through Disney. (We have always wanted to stay in a Disney Deluxe hotel.) Also, we would have a microwave/fridge for preparing snacks and small meals, which would save a little money too.

Disney requires that you have a minimum 4-night room reservation at Disney in order to buy the Intimate Vow Renewal package as an “add-on.” My concern is that Disney would not allow us to have the Intimate Vow Renewal if we reserve our room through a DVC member. Has anyone ever done this? I talked to a DVC member who told me that the reservation would be made in my name, but I am still concerned that Disney will not allow me to have the Intimate Vow Renewal add-on since I am not making the room reservation directly through Disney. I called Disney and the rep seemed confused by my question. We would like to save some money if possible, but we do not want to do anything to jeopardize the Vow Renewal since it is very important to us (we did not have a wedding when we were married.)

My understanding is that the FTW SM would need a reservation # to give you an add-on package. Once you have the reservation #, you should be all set!

We had the intimate wedding add-on and had rented three nights at SSR through a DVC member and were staying three nights at CR through CRO. Everything was fine, all I gave was my confirmation numbers and we were good to go!

Both of the previous postings are correct. I am a DVC member and when I originally called for information on intimate weddings, I had the same question. They told me that they count your DVC nights as regular nights. In addition, if any room is included in your vow package/wedding package, they give you like a $50 discount of some sort. Best wishes!
