I am getting married in August at the Wedding Pavilion in an Intimate Ceremony. Based on the good things that everyone has to say about using Randy Chapman as their photographer, we are interested in using him for ours. He is available on our wedding day, but when I spoke to a rep at Disney about how this would work, they told me that we couldn't get credit towards anything else (like a portrait session) if we were using an outside photographer. In fact, they told me that the day of the wedding that if we hired Randy, that we would have both him and the Disney photographer taking pictures. Is this other people's experiences? Thanks.

We've booked Randy for our intimate wedding at the wedding pavilion. We have been told that instead of having a Disney photographer at our wedding we can have:
Alternate Photo Package: Romantic Choice Session
• One Photo session no longer then 30 minutes for the bride and groom only.

• Session is to be at the Magic Kingdom, we will meet you at City Hall. Session is to take place are the Main Street area and can be scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

• This is a casual session (NO wedding attire permitted) and walking shoes are recommended.

• Package to include a 2 print 5x7 folio. All other images taken will be posted to our website for the couple to view and purchase.

Honeymoon Upgrade Option: $50.00
A Disney Photographic Services photographer will take you on a tour of several locations around the Walt Disney World theme park or resort of your choice. This may include Cinderella’s castle at the Magic Kingdom, the Tower of Terror at Disney’s MGM Studios, the countries of Epcot’s World Showcase, or the Tree of Life in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Package Includes

• Guided tour of the Disney Theme Park of your choice to determine a photo location.
• Twenty (20) 4x6 prints (all additional prints available on our website)
• Beautiful white leather bound album
• Casual attire and comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
• Session does not include admission to theme parks.

By the way I was sent this information by Disney.
Who told you that you would end up having 2 photographers at your wedding? This is usually a big no no and I know that Randy wouldnt work like that as its written in the contract that he gives you, that he's the only photographer at the event.

Hope you manage to sort things out. If you still have a problem then feel free to pm me and might be able to put you in touch with someone who could help.

Thanks for the information! I was discussing the options with the sales associate. He put me on hold and checked with someone and gave me that answer.

eblondie - Do you have an email or phone number for Disney photography so that I can talk with them about it?

Thanks.

I have Randy booked for December, and when I told my EM she said that there was an exchange available for the Honeymoon shoot, if I wanted, to just contact Disney Photography. I haven't contacted them though so I'm not sure what the package includes.

A different question. I have read about Illumination Dessert Parties and was interested in possibly having one on the day of the wedding. I called the number for Disney group sales, and explained to the rep that I was having an intimate wedding and was interested in having the dessert party that evening. He told me that I needed to contact my wedding coordinator/sales rep to set that up. When I spoke with my sales rep about this, he told me that because we were having an intimate wedding and not a custom wedding that we could not have an Illuminations Dessert Party. When I told him that I understood that the party would not be part of the package and that it would be an addition fee but asked if we could have a party, he told me that technically, we could not under any circumstances have the party. He then implied that if I called group sales back and did not tell them that we were having a Disney wedding that we could set one up.

Does this seem right? I haven't seen anyone mention anything like this before. The more that I speak with the sales rep, the more that it seems that he might be new to the job and does not know all of the ins and outs that people here on this board seem to have done.

Thanks.

I was told if FTW found out about a dessert party add on that they would bump you up to a Custom. I don't know if this is true or not....although have you looked at the viewing through Magical Gatherings? I don't think you would get to wear your dress either way for that. Keep in mind that this is what I heard through FTW. I would nail some people down before you went ahead with it so you don't get charged the custom rate.

Just wanted to put in my two cents. We did the 50.00 upgrade and loved it. It was so much fun to do that the day after our wedding. We should have our photos up soon and I will share them with you. We went right at 9:00 for our appointment which was great because a lot of the places we went for pictures did not have any people there yet. Also, we got to skip line and take pictures on the dumbo ride! I was very excited about that because I had never been on that ride before! I am so excited to see how the pictures turned out, but I am sure they will be great.

I just had my vow renewal in May and ended up with Disney and an outside vendor taking pictures at the cermony and the reception. No where in Disney's paper work does it say if you use an outside vendor you do not get the 2 hours of coverage the 12 prints and the folio that you are paying for as part of the package. I didn't think 2 5 x7s in street clothes was equivalent, so I decided to have two both take pictures.

I am glad I did, the outside vendor took twice as many pictures and i got the cd, plus i also got a deal with the outsicde vendor by doing a still/video package. Plus Disney got some pictures the outside vendor didn't - on the beach outside WP. It was neat to see two different perspectives of the same event.

when I asked about having htem both at my ceremony, they told me no. Disney said they don't allow two photographers at the same ceremony.

My EM tried to tell me that they would just have the outside photographer in addition to the Disney Photographer. However i heard of people getting a credit towards other photo sessions. She had Stephanie Sharpe from DPS call me. SHe tried to offer me the 2 5 X 7 package also. We already had the MK photo session scheduled and didn't want more MK pics and didn't think that the package was really comparable- you can get the same thing from Photopass!. She finally offered the Honeymoon Session upgrade for $50 which was listed as 295 in our planning package. We did it at Epcot and had a blast doing it too. We did in the World Showcase before it was open to anyone and our photographer was great. (Our MK photo shoot was a little depressing since it rained and we couldn't get any pics in front of the castle- they had to superimpose us) Anyway- here is a link to our disney pics- we are still waiting on the ones from Randy.

Christineangel - you were a beautiful bride. Sorry about the rain, but you got some really good pictures - tea cups and all!

Thank you all very much for your help!! I did get in touch with Disney photography who emailed me the alternative photo sessions available to us. I think we will end up going with the honeymoon upgrade option and use Randy on our wedding day.

Thanks again!

That's exactly what we are doing. :) I can't wait!!
