Question about using fitness facilities

I am a DVC member, but am arriving for free dining next week, so won't be using my points. Can I still use the fitness clubs at the DVC resorts? I really want to workout, but noticed my resort (Pop Century) doesn't have a place to do it (at least it is not listed). Thanks in advance.

I believe the fitness facilities are available only for registered resort guests. So if you are staying at BWV then you can use that facility, etc. to workout.

The spa services at Grand Floridian and SSR are available for a cost, however. You would need to contact them for reservations.

As of June 1, 2004, Beach Club resort guests (age 14 and older) can use the fitness center at no additional charge for the duration of their stay. A parent or legal guardian must accompany children under 17. In addition, Disney Vacation Club members will be allowed to use the fitness center at any Disney Vacation Club resort, as long as they are staying at a Walt Disney World resort. Guests of other Disney resorts may do so for $12 per day, based on availability. The purchase of a spa treatment includes use of the adjacent fitness center for the day of treatment.

I thought that was only for members staying on a points reservation. Otherwise, local members could come and use the spas whenever they like.

I think the key here is the wording saying as long as they are staying at a WDW resort. They would be taking the chance that they will be asked for a room key as well as their blue ID card.

I agree, I read it to say if you are a DVC member staying at any WDW resort, you can use the fitness facilities at any DVC resort for free.

In addition, Disney Vacation Club members will be allowed to use the fitness center at any Disney Vacation Club resort, as long as they are staying at a Walt Disney World resort.

When we used the fitness center at the BWV we were asked if we were DVC members. They asked for our room key and blue membership card.

Do the facilities at WDW differ from each other? I noticed last week at HHI that the room was pretty tiny and had limited equipment, but I remember VB having a pretty decent size room and a good selection of equipment. OKW's is the only one I've been to at WDW.

SSR has a very nice fitness center which my DH used this spring when we stayed at OKW (we were using our DVC points for the stay so I knew he could use the workout area at any resort...not sure what the policy is if you are not using your points for a stay...assume it would be the same "only when staying on points" policy as pool-hoppping though)
