So, I cancelled a cruise and will be getting FCC for myself, my husband, and my son, 14.
We want to rebook this summer but my son no longer wants to go. Can my husband and I use his FCC given that he's a minor?
Technically, it was my money that paid for his portion originally.
Thanks for any insight you may have on this!

I know the FCC from the Covid-cancelled cruises was specific to each passenger. Several folks found they were not allowed to transfer that credit to someone else if there was a change in their travel party from the original cancelled cruise. If someone couldn't go on the re-booked cruise, the credit would sit in the account. I don't know if it gets refunded at a certain point or if it is lost. I don't know what happens come Sept. 2022 if a credit for 1 guest goes unused.

My husband and I brought (and paid for) my college-aged son and his girlfriend on a cruise in January after rescheduling a cancelled cruise from May 2021. They were in their own room and both had FCC that reverted to OBC when we boarded the cruise. Because our reservations were linked and I was paying for all onboard expenses, all OBC was consolidated into one lump sum and was used for onboard expenses until it was exhausted. Had they not joined us in January, their FCC would have remained on their accounts to be used by September 2022.

I tried this & got a big NO on this from DCL. In fact, in a follow up email, I was told that FCC is associated with the person and this was non-negotiable (their words). We just did a cruise (DW& I) and had the kids booked, but "they couldn't get out of school" so didn't cruise with us. We just cruised on their FCC :)

Curious which cruise line you cancelled this cruise on? I see the exact same post on the Royal Caribbean forum here as well

What do you mean you cruised on their FCC?

We are in the same situation. A teen daughter with a DCL FCC who does not want to cruise again.

Just a guess, but I think they meant they used the extra FCC (above the kids' cruise fare) as OBC. I hadn't thought of that before, but I can see booking a trip, with the kids on the booking but knowing that they were not actually going to sail... you'd lose a chunk of the FCC to the kids' fares, but any overage per guest would be converted to the stateroom's OBC. If you found a cruise where the kids were less expensive, it gould be a good amount of OBC. Better than losing it entirely when it expires... intriguing...

I booked a 3 day for the 5 of us using the kids FCC from previously cancelled cruises. I used 0 cash to pay for it. When DW & I arrived, we told both the Safe Passage & DCL check in people that the kids weren't there and they removed them lickity split. I pre-empted the DCL check in person saying that I knew we'd not get a refund for the kids not being there and that was it. The kids FCC paid for mom & dad to take a weekend getaway

The way it works is, everyone who is traveling contributes their FCC to the stateroom account pool. The fares and taxes are then paid out of the stateroom pool, as well as anything else on board.

So, the rule is, you cannot transfer the FCC to someone else, but you can add their FCC to the stateroom account as long as they are one of the guests. And you can add as much of it as you want. This way, their FCC can pay for others' fares. Any unused amount will become OBC.

BTW, OP, you still have the option to get a refund for any FCC you don't want to use on any sailing.

I"ve read these a coupe times through and it's starting to sink in. After my morning coffee tomorrow I'm sure the lightbulb will go on - possibly very excited! My DH and I could certainly use a getaway!
