Hi all,

We got in on the free dining for our trip next week and are thinking about bumping up to deluxe dining for the first time. I do know that lead time is needed for Disney to be able to add on the dining plan to a reservation and assume it would be the same to change to deluxe. Does anyone know how many days in advance of check in you can make changes to the dining plan?
I'm thinking 5 days but am not sure.

Thanks!

The minimum time for non-DVC reservations is 3 days. (DVC is 2 days, and I'm not sure if they charge those fees).

Note that when under 10-14 days or so, you will likely be charged a fee for making any changes to your reservation, both increasing and decreasing the cost. Between 45 and 10-14 days out, you may be charged a change fee, but that's usually waived for upgrades.

Also know that if you are within 45 days of check-in, you must pay for the upgrade IN FULL when you make it (since your package is supposed to be paid off by that point).

When we went in January I decided very last minute (like three days before) to upgrade from the free DDP to the DxDP. We arrived on a Saturday and I believe I called the Wednesday before. Luckily, I got a couple of the sweetest CM's and although it didn't seem very easy, they were able to upgrade it for me. I did have to pay the $50 to upgrade since it was in such short notice, but I was so happy they could change it for me that I didn't even care. So, although I wouldn't advise you to wait so long to change it, they are definitely able to. We absolutely loved the DxDP and now I can't imagine not having it. We got to try so many wonderful restaurants! When we ate at Narcoossee's our bill was around $260, and I could have never imagined paying for that out of pocket.

Enjoy your trip! :goodvibes

Thanks for the replies!

I didn't think about the $50 change fee for modifying the reservation... thanks for reminding me of that fact!

anhower: Glad to know they CAN upgrade me this week if I decide to go for it. I know I have to decide in the next day or two.

:)

yep it's 3 days and yes they do mention the $50 fee but usually when you upgrade, they wave the fee as they are getting more money however if you were to downgrade, they will usually charge the 50
