On the DDP, my wife and I have noticed there is SO much food for one TS meal. Can the two of us share one TS meal from our DDP if we aren't hungry enough for two separate meals? Is that allowed?
When you count the appetizer and dessert with the entree, it just seems like too much food.

I always wonder why people who say this don't just buy their food instead of using the dining plan.
In answer to your question, many people do, do this providing it is not and all you can eat place, but as I say why do the dining plan than in the first place if you think it is too much food.

Well, let's do some math-if I want 1 meal at Narcoosees, 1 meal at Cosmic Rays and 2 snacks for the day- that would run about $14 for cosmic, about $80 at Narcoossee's and 6.00 for snacks which = $100 bucks. You have spent about $80 on the DDP for 2 people so YES, you DO get your value out of just buying ONE entree per meal per day depending on where you go.

However, my understanding is that they didn't allow you to order only 1 meal at sit downs. Gosh, if they did, that would save loads of credits! What would you do with the rest? Just not use them?

We are a family of 4 so for us it's a no-brainer to get the DDP. I'm not questioning whether this was a smart choice for us. However, I thought that, at a time we may not be as hungry, we could use share one TS meal and then possibly use the extra TS meal for a signature or character meal that would require 2 TS credits, if they would allow that.

Yes, you can do that. Last year we (2 adults, 2 kids) used 2 TS credits (1 adult, 1 kid) at Rose and Crown and at Coral Reef. With the credits we saved we went to CRT, which requires 2 credits per person.

This year we used only 2 credits at Le Cellier (but bought wine, extra appetizers and a side dish) and at San Angel Inn. With the extra credits we went to the Hoop-de-do Musical Revue.

When the appetizer is removed from the plan Jan. 1 sharing meals will become less common. We probably won't do it anymore. But under the current plan it made a lot of sense for us.

Thanks to ExtinctDino for being so helpful! I just wish we could try all the great restaurants on our trip!
