Question about trading for DVC

I know there is a section for trading and renting DVC reservations, but I don't want to post an offer until I get some help from my fellow DIS'ers!

My boss got me World Series tickets in Denver and I won't be able to use all of them.

I don't want to scalp them on eBay, but I got the idea of trading some of these tickets -- which will be worth $800-1200 each, for a DVC reservation next year. Is this kind of thing done?

Of course my other concern is that my understanding about DVC reservations is they can be cancelled and that trust could be an issue.

What do you guys think -- Is this realistic?

I don't see why it couldn't work. But do your homework as far as the DVCers you rent the reservation from. The only difference is you are bartering the tickets instead of paying cash to the owner.

This would be a time when trust would be an issue on BOTH sides... in addition to you trusting the person you're renting from, the points "owner" would also have to trust you that the tix were genuine, etc. Also, game # is an issue... if the tix you can't use are for games 5,6, and 7... well, they might be "non-existent."

You might want to check to see if scalping legal in your state as this would still be scalping if you're looking to get the increased value?

I would not do it.
why would you not just sell the tickets on a site like stub hub. then use that money to secure a ressie?

dont know how many tix you have but the value is probably going to blow away a weeks dvc vacation. also dont know your seats but tix are already selling between 1k-10, per seat.



much safer all the way around, otherwise what are you going to do when someone goes to the game and convienently disappears when its time to make the ressie?

plus you could be hard pressed to find someone in CO or willing to go to CO for one of those 3 specific dates AND who is a dvc owner with the proper equivalent for rent/trade.

just seems like the least beneficial route to go IMO

trust definately an issue here

the games in CO would be 3, 4, or 5 so likely all will be played but unlikely you will find a dvc owner with extra points who is willing to trade for the tix on one of those specific dates

Keep in mind that you may NOT use the DVC Rent/Trade board for this proposal. We only allow trading other timeshares for DVC timeshares, or by renting a reservation for cash.

Since your basic question has been answered, I'm going to close this thread.
